Back in 99, this was a twist that was so good that nobody dared to spoil it upon penalty of death

one of the BEST child acting you will ever see in a movie...

The DADDY of all plot twists.

All these years later, after watching this movie many times I still instantly get choked up watching these scenes.

Uv gotta give the rest of us credit for keeping the secret the past quarter century!

Many people went a second time to watch the movie to look for all the hints they missed.

Every actor in this movie was excellent but Toni Collette was something else

Never thought of this movie as a Horror movie. However, people seem to refer to it as such. It is in fact a psychological thriller!

Easily one of the Top 3 best reveals in cinematic history. And it's such a rewarding twist, because it raises the rewatch value tenfold. Going back to look for the clues that he was dead the whole time and why he couldn't open the door. And SAD as hell, too.

When I saw this in the theater, a guy behind me figured out what happened and just yelled "What the F#$k?"

The score is some of the most emotional music in film. It gets me every time. Pure genius.

aww I Love this Movie. I wish I could go back in time and watch it for the first time again!

probably one of the best endings to a movie ever 🎬

People waiting to get into the theater would hear people walking out and talking about the ending ruining the surprise. That's when theaters started to show the movie in multiple rooms, making sure the next audience wouldn't have the ending ruined by hearing people exiting the theaters.

It would have been so easy to only include the reveal - thank you for also including that amazing scene with Tony Collette.

This girl has such a sweet soul. Of course she would sob through this movie. Bless her from Australia ❤❤❤

9:58 “The Shyamalan twist…the Shyamalan twist…”

Yeah…exactly Brother. This was one of the most insane twists in a movie to date…unfortunately after this, we all pretty much knew to expect something to throw us off in any of his movies since this one.

This is why I don't read reviews of movies I really want to see or read social media stories about them. I am SO glad I was able to see this in the theater back then and spoiler free. It's also why I don't purposely try to over think movies when I'm watching them. I love to be duped, LOL. I've had some people say they figured it out earlier on, possibly when she's at dinner since she never even looks at him or whatnot. I just happily watched along thinking she was pissed at him, haha.

This movie never gets old. That's sometimes an overused expression but it truly never gets old. I'll watch it if there's an hour left of it or 5 minutes. It's just that good. Love M. Night Shyamalan. People dog him a lot for some of his cinema efforts since this movie but it's really rare to be able to recreate something like this. He is always original at the very least, doesn't do sequels (except Unbreakable and Glass) and franchises and to that I tip my hat to him. I always have respect for his efforts even if he doesn't knock it out of the ballpark every time.

I watched this movie years ago, and several times since. It always choked me up, but I never before shed a tear, until those ladies were crying, seeing what I had seen before.
AITAH?
I was a soldier, I saw a lot of death, even got somewhat used to it, but,...I think,...I just needed permission to give my emotions full rein!

I cried like a baby.
