Dude, if you want some fun, check out "All About the Pentiums"!

30 years ago I was drug to a concert of his. It was a great all ages show with 30 costume changes. I can highly recommend going to one 👍

0:25 With both his parodies and style parody original songs, Weird Al isn't required to get permission from the original artist, as parody is protected speech. But Weird Al asks for permission anyway. After the Coolio incident, the managers said yes but didn't tell Coolio who was opposed, Weird Al started requiring the artists permission specifically. Coolio later changed his mind about Weird Al's "Amish Paradise" parody and said that he should have given permission at the start. There have been a few other artists who found out that their managers said no, when they wanted to approve a parody. I believe James Blunt was happy to approve "You're Pitiful" (for his "You're Beautiful") and Lady Gaga was happy to approve "Perform This Way" (for her "Born This Way"), s they found out after their managers said no.

Word Crimes is a parody of the song, but Weird Al's band plays the song, rather than using the other artist's music. The style parodies are in the style of another band, but not for a specific song from that band. "Born to Be Stupid" is a style parody of Devo and they have said it is a better Devo song than their songs. :)  Not only is Weird Al supremely talented as a lyricist, but can sing in a wide range of genres, while his band also plays very well in that wide range of genres.

Weird Al is definitely a rabbit hole worth going down and do watch the original song as well, since the videos usually mirror the original video as well. Especially Weird Al doing "Smells Like Nirvana" for Nirvana's "Smells Like Team Spirit".

Weird Al is that dude!!!!

Prince was notorious for never letting Weird Al parody any of his songs, so Al makes occasional jabs at him like in this song: "You should never write words using numbers, unless you're 7, or your name is PRINCE!" Al told one story where he and Prince were assigned to sit in the same row at the American Music Awards, and he received a telegram from Prince's management company demanding he not even make eye contact with him. What a dope! And Coolio got upset with him for parodying "Gangsta's Paradise" into "Amish Paradise" because Coolio's label reportedly gave Al his permission to record the parody, but after its release, Coolio publicly demanded an apology from Al, saying he never actually gave permission for the parody, and that it undermined the seriousness of Coolio's song. They later reconciled, and Coolio apologized for his behavior, even going so far as to say he found the parody "actually funny as shit."

Yes, Weird Al is most known for his "Parodies".... He also has some Original Songs......
Alot of Artist Consider it a mark of "Making It" when Weird Al makes a paradoy of their song...... The Record Industry has created the term "Vankovic Bump" is what happens when Weird Al releases a parody and the Original song has an increase in Sales/Downloads.....
Think of the skill Weird Al has cause he can sing in the style of the original Artist.....
I believe, The only artist that he did as a request was Madonna.... She made a comment to him along the lines of "I can't believe you ain't made a parody of "Like a Virgin"... So Weird Al wrote/recorded "Like a Surgeon"
Michael Jackson, appreciated Weird Al's Work so much that for some of songs that he hooked them up with the Choreographers, Dancers, Sets, Wardrobe......

Much Clown Love! I absolutely love weird Al, have since the 1980s… Welcome to the family!
