I met George back in the day and there was an audience of about 200 people there to see him, when it was over, security told him, come on George we need to go and George said NO these people are my people and they want to meet me and he stayed back and signed for everyone..............I will never forget that
Very talented boy george for sure. Likeable as well. Definately a brit thats been remembered almost 50yrs already. One who will be in the history books for a long time.
The 1980s was the absolute best decade to be a teen and growing. Culture Club, and Boy George, was simply a huge impact on that. Now in my 40s, I still canât forget their contribution to my social life.
I love Boy George (and Culture Club) today more than ever. Wish that I had paid more attention to the music back in the 80s. Seemed to be so busy raising two little children at that time. I appreciate it more today than I did then. Boy George's music today resonates so wonderfully. Am loving every new song that he is releasing. I look forward to everything that he releases. ;-) ;-) ;-)
I've met George too, at the Zap Club in Brighton when he DJd there. He is a really lovely, sassy person. Very emotionally intelligent and charismatic x
George this is a great story thank you George for being so honest with your feelings and your thoughts on your time with Culture Club. Love You George.
I remember the first time I heard Culture Club. I was visiting a friend's home and they had MTV. The video for "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me" came on and I was like what is this?!?" I was TOTALLY blown away by their sound: pop, reggae, a Motown-inspired bassline and the voice of an angel over it all. I grew up listening to several genres of music, from bubblegum pop, 50's style doowop/rock and roll (Buddy Holly, Elvis), 40's Big Band, the Eagles, 70's funk (Earth Wind and Fire), Motown (still love Marvin Gaye), even some country, but I had never heard ANYTHING like Culture Club! And I LOVED it! Their music has stood the test of time and will ALWAYS have a place in my heart. I think it's high time we had another reunion! How about it, guys????
