This movie will forever be a classic! One of my favorite movies from childhood to adulthood.

The ending scene in Deadpool, where he comes out of the bathroom, is a tribute to this movie.

Hughes movies worth checking out that he wrote or wrote and directed: SIXTEEN CANDLES. THE BREAKFAST CLUB, WEIRD SCIENCE, PRETTY IN PINK, SOME KIND OF WONDERFUL, UNCLE BUCK, PLANES TRAINS AND AUTOMOBILES, HOME ALONE, CAREER OPPORTUNITIES, MR. MOM, NATIONAL LAMPOON'S VACATION and DUTCH.

When I saw this movie in previews the week before it opened, the audience howled when Ferris came out at the end to tell us to leave.

It's movies like this that I absolutely loved watching growing up, John Hughes was always such a brilliant director when it came to Teen movies like this and its why his films have always stood out to me like Ferris Bueller, Breakfast Club, PTAA or even Home Alone on being must watches for young people that go through the stresses of high school and even past that whenever your worried about a test or getting into college, like the premises are a little basic and a bit unrealistic sometimes but I think that's kind of the point you know, there are a lot of heartfelt messages in these films and they will always hold a place in my heart. Fantastic film and loved the reaction!

Yes, John Hughes also did The Breakfast Club. He was known for making 80's coming-of-age teen comedies, typically set in Chicago. He also wrote Home Alone, which was also set in Chicago.

This is actually the best of the 'Teen Angst' films from the '80s. That terrific soundtrack helps. "Life moves pretty fast - if you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it!" ~ words to live by. You should do a deep dive on the making of this film and watch it numerous times. Ferris actually does all this for Cameron's sake - Life would chew him up and spit him out as he shows signs of clinical depression and is borderline suicidal. He needs to face his fears, mainly of his father, before he can move on after graduation. Jeanie's problem getting solved is just a happy coincidence. Not staying for the credits is a Rookie Mistake, and lacks professionalism.

26:19 - Exhale and you will sink, unless you are EXTREMELY buoyant.

Jeffrey Jones, who played the principal, wound up being arrested for kiddie porn.
The teacher was a Nixon speech writer.
The two actors who played the parents wound up married.

I watched an old movie with my millennial friend. She worried about the moral of the story. I had to explain that older movies don't all have a moral. They are pure entertainment.
