I met Carpenter and he was very cool. I actually asked him why he comes off grumpy. He laughed and said, “it’s a huge emotional rollercoaster for me to talk to strangers. I hate praise and ego worship. I hate having my ass kissed. I was a kid who loved making movies. Anything beyond that is a myth”. I’ll never forget that.

I find John Carpenter to be such a fascinating character, no matter what mood he's in.

“Nothing looks better than 35mm animorphic panavision lenses” -John Carpenter

it's as if Carpenter came back from 2 days with no sleep, working on a film set and as soon as he went back to sleep they literally called him 3 minutes later to do this interview, LMAO

I feel like this interviewer is the guy who accidentally starts laughing at the joke before you say the punch line.

You can see JC visibly age during this interview

Carpenter must have gotten a pay check for this cause he looks at the dude like "As long as I get my money, punk"

This interview has become a horror classic

I've heard Carpenter can be moody, but overall a nice guy.

Is it just me or is John turning into Lo-Pan?

This is simply one of the most brutal interviews to watch. The interviewers response of "Uh-huh" to every answer Carpenter gave is the worst. Question after question, looking at his notes while Carpenter is trying to answer the man to his face.

"Don't be naive, young man. Don't be naive".

John's quote "don't be naive young man" near  23:20 is memorable. I gained more respect for him for not buying into Hollywood's Walk of Fame.  One could learn from his wisdom about life.

Never seen someone that loved movies fall out of love with the industry so much!

interview will go down as JC's last great slasher.

From the side he looks almost just like David Lo Pan in this video. I've seen a lot of his interviews, this is the first one where he looks like he truly wishes to be somewhere else.

I love the reaction of him thinking about his 14 hour trip on an airplane for next year.

This interviewer needs to learn how to read people. Carpenter made it obvious that he doesn’t think about what others are doing nor does he bother with judging, yet he keeps asking similar questions 😂 over and over.

" Is there any drug dealers in leeds" lmao fucking awesome

I saw John in concert here in Dublin last October and he was so excited to be there. It was a gig I will be forever grateful to have seen.
I honestly feel sorry for the interviewer here; he's just doing his job. Maybe he caught Carpenter on a bad day, but Jesus, this was a painful watch. Ouch!
