Whole heartedly agree with GP! I felt she should have caught some kind of a sexual offense charge, personally. Forcing her to have to register on THE list so that the shame of what she did follows her for the rest of her life. She’d deserves that at the least bc she proved in this documentary she’s learned nothing and I believe that in some capacity she will end up doing something like this again. They did ask her if she did this bc she was obsessed w Owen but just let her off with denying it. No follow up questions so it came off to me like she was included for the shock and awe for the reveal. If she wasn’t there, it would’ve been too obvious.

I said the SAME thing GP. She should have had some type of sex offender charge.

GP totally agree about the lower third information. I hate when I read articles or watch things with no note as to when and where and such. Great point.

I’m here to totally validate GP. Her mom is a you know what. You cannot convince me otherwise. If she was just jealous and obsessed w her daughter those text would not have been as explicit.
If the doc wanted to give Kendra a platform (I don’t mind that) I wish they would have added an expert or testimony in between her interview to clearly indicate to everyone watching that Kendra is a pred and a master manipulator!!!

I'm so mad at this documentary as well GP, they platformed a sexual predator and didn't challenge any of her bogus excuses for her crimes. I will say though that Patrick brings up a very valid point in saying that everyone in this documentary came off the way they were supposed to, and I hope that something good comes from Kendra being exposed as the predator she is. Great coverage as always ❤

I used to get bullied for being adopted. I was called trash can baby. First couple times it happened I cried to my mom who told me to tell them "at least my parents chose me, yours are stuck with you." Worked like a charm! I wasn't bullied for it very much after that.

I came here straight from Lady Pates just for the visual of Gillian doing the Can't Close The Lips Over The Bucky Teeth Speak/Piggy Nose combo. I normally don't do ad hominems, but I will now: Templeton.

I 100% agree with Gillian. My first thought was why was she not added to a registry or charged as a predator????

Regarding the photo, I saw some people saying she was still friends with Owen’s mom and maybe Kendra was invited on Christmas morning and took the photo.

I felt like I needed to give the dad a round of applause for not flipping everything over  the moment he finds out cause I know it had to be hard stopping yourself from acting up. Smh. Will you guys please please do the limited docuseries Six Schizophrenic Brothers on HBO?? It's,  for the lack of a better word, interesting and heartbreaking. I'd be interested in hearing your viewpoints on the mom, given the era and her own personal experience. I definitely had multiple feelings.

I feel like part of the point GP is making is that the documentary doesn’t make its position clear enough. You as the story teller inherently overlay bias on a documentary and y’all talk about that a lot. In this case, it seems like a miss how much airtime Kendra is given without any film making devices to identify her lies and manipulations to the viewer in real time as a clear indictment of her point. Even just flashing specific texts back on the screen as she’s talking could’ve gone a long way to make the mission of letting Kendra sink her own ship much more explicit.

Yes!!!! Come for this woman, Gillian!

Agree with Gillian; if this had been a man who had sent a child these texts, there would be charges. She's a predator and should have been charged as such. Also, your no offense to pigs is hilariois. Thanks for this coverage.

I agree with JP on this. Maybe if it wasn’t precedent as a twist and we knew from the beginning it was the mother and we spent the whole doc seeing her defend her choices that might justify giving her a platform. As it is , it’s 20 minutes of a horrible person giving the same excuse all horrible people give.
Don’t get me wrong that twist makes the doc 1000 times more entertaining and this would not be as popular without it. But is it then worth it when you have no real answers and no one questioning you about the sexual harassment of two children, one of them being your own daughter

I’ve never wanted to punch someone as badly as when I watched this woman deflect responsibility

GP is right, I think she should be on the list.  This is all the people in my circles talk about

Clicked into this so fast, I've been waiting for you to cover this the second I finished the Documentary.

ooooh boy i'm not usually a commenter but i got THOUGHTS so get ready for my essay haha

i'm with gillian on this one! i was reminded of the edit you described in your coverage of 'look into my eyes' where it highlighted the principal using the exact same words to do his performative 'remembering' of the first victim again and again over the years. something like that tells me that the documentarians are skeptical of the things being said.

in this documentary, doing things like asking kedra if she was using her daughter as a proxy to send abuse to her teenage self and letting her go 'hmmmmmmmm yeah you know what i guess that's totally part of it' is giving her too much leeway and room to craft her narrative where she can argue that there's a binary of Guilty and Innocent but the world is too naive to recognize the nuance of her situation.

there are people who can look at what she said and say 'oh she's obviously full of shit, what an awful person, i'm glad they gave her space to expose this absurd side of herself' but there are also people who could see the same thing and think 'well it's true that she never actually hurt anyone and she was clearly in a very dark place'.

side note: i saw a video covering this doc where someone who, though i disagree with them i think they're both well intentioned and intelligent, floated the idea out of nowhere that kendra's husband was physically abusive based on him 1. asking her to leave because he isn't sure what he'll do once the police are gone (to me, this showed a level of emotional intelligence and self-awareness that i don't think a lot of people would acknowledge out loud in a situation like that) and 2. seeming to think her actions/behavior meant that there must have been additional trauma in her life that goes beyond what we're told in the doc. these are conclusions they came to based on what the doc gave them, even though we all watched the exact same thing.

between that and what gillian mentioned about the use of recent images of owen when talking about kendra's obsession with him and the mixing of the interviews with lauryn at the end (which i didn't catch on my own watch), i think this comes closer to shocking popcorn TV about a scandalous story than a serious documentary about a genuinely fucked up situation made with serious intention.

and whether or not kendra a predator in the classic sense (would she ever have acted on her fixation with owen if the opportunity presented itself? will she find a new 13 year old boy to fixate on in the future? we have no way of knowing that), i don't think that's important in grand scheme of things. she sent sexually abusive messages to minors, which means she can't be trusted around children.

if public urination can get someone labeled a sex offender (regardless of if the person's intent was sexual gratification, they still exposed themself in public), then what kendra did should qualify as well.

REGARDLESS i respect you guys and enjoy watching/listening, keep up the great work!

GP is the smartest woman in America!!!  Absolutely the offender is fantasy based sex offender. She will do this again and it will be kids online .  If she were a man we would have viewed this differently. She should have been charged with child abuse as well.

I was hoping you would cover this!!!

Omg...the no offense to pigs part...I spit my drink out laughing 😂😂😂😂
