Maynard's performance here is very unsettling.  He's portraying someone who is thoroughly broken by addiction and has no hope of ever finding the light again.  And he's singing from the addictions perspective.

Maynard is an enigma wrapped within a riddle vocally and lyrically. He is the literal only one who could front this band of mad scientists.

Tool will find a centre in you, Tool will never chew you up and leave. I was at this concert in '93. I am 66 years old now.      In Tool I trust.

Maynard performance in this video is Oscar worthy.

This is Tool 33 years ago.  If you were amazed by this, their music and performances are on a whole other stratosphere now. Maynard is a lyrical genius while Adam, Danny, and Justin bring the music together in layers unlike any other band in the world.

If you really want to experience the raw power of Maynard's vocals, listen to The Grudge. It features a sustained, extremely long, raw scream that you will not believe. The song is also amazing.

"Aenima" with lyrics on screen.🔥🔥

Congrats on opening Pandora's box... after listening to The Tool, nothing will sound the same again xD (I have listened to the 10,000 Days Album as a teenager after dismissing the band before and let me tell you, you will feel 10k days older after listening to that in 1 go).

Dozens of songs that will blow you away!  Tool write some unbelievable songs!  Too many to name....

Danny Carey is now the greatest living drummer since Ginger Baker passed RIP

If you react to Lateralus try to do a lyric video . The lyrics and music is incredible with Tool they are all master musicians!!!

You’re witnessing the genius that is Maynard James Keenan. If you like Tool you should check out his other two bands Perrfect Circle and Puscifier

Since you have vocal training, I would recommend The Grudge. There is something towards the end of the song you may enjoy.

It's known by many as an homage to Mother Love Bone vocalist Andrew Wood, who couldn't see himself being creative while sober. The Alice in Chains song "Would?" is known as another homage to this founding father of grunge.
Wood unfortunately overdosed in 1990, three years before the release of this album.

I would suggest that you try "Pnuma their most recent release. I saw you grooving to the base on "The Pot". Danny Carey (drummer God) and the bass player write the songs, and Maynard comes in and writes the lyrics. I've been following them since the early '90s. There are a lot of videos online that focus on Danny Carey drumming on the live version of "Pnuma". He's a phenom. And I really loved your reaction, I just get a kick of people who hear Tool for the first time and they're like what the hell have I been doing with my life? And Maynard is the front man for "A Perfect Circle" & "Pussifer". Anything he does has so many layers. Any of the time you devote to learning about them is well worth it.
I just have to say it was so cool to watch your reaction.

Although my favorite band IS and always will be TooL... the singers second band(of the 3 he is currently working with) A Perfect Circle has a song "3 Libras" that you NEED to hear for his softer singing voice. Tool is his more aggressive side and A Perfect Circle is his softer and more sensual side. His third band Puscifer is his libido and is just plain fun and eccentric. Enjoy the spiral

Pushit live version (salival)
But you should stick to studio quality for the majority of their catalog. They have no bad songs because even their live versions are special and extended. Thanks for such a powerful reaction to my favorite band. we would love to watch all of your tool reactions 💯

Parabol/parabola will blow your mind. Then any other song is just as amazing.  They don't write bad songs.

great introduction to Tool. you should try " The Grudge" or "Thr Pot" 🙂

Saw this in my feed after a Buffy review and seeing you as a Darla look-alike :D Great song to review and review by you.
