I Think you could have an entire episode of content on the catch throw rule. I hate where it's at right now. 2 hand offensive dunks don't belong in volleyball.

Attacks should be clean. Those two-hand throws above the net have become a trend now. It’s like a lazy move to handle the sets that not in good position to hit.

15:20: Ball Contacting the Ceiling
will be funny in lower leagues, playing in school gyms with 6m ceilings ;-)
ball comes down faster than it was ascending :-)

In the province of Quebec, they would allow the ball to hit the ceiling and play would continue.  The same rule as VolleyballWorld is implementing

I think in theory you could lay it out as if the catch rule is up to interpretaion. But it is obvious that the underlying intention in listing those examples is that referees are now expected to make stricter calls.

And if we are being honest, we all have images of these dubious power tips and pushes in our heads that have been dominating pro play for a while. All these questionable calls are now not questionable anymore, they are illegal.

Whether technique is clean or not will always be up to the interpretation of the ref, because it's not possible for a referee to  measure the amount of time the player contacts the ball. We will never have a 100% clarification about what is a lift and what is not unless it is getting automated in the far future.

The meta is now being pushed towards a more conservative line to reduce offensive power and I think especially regarding men's volleyball, this is a good direction to let good defense shine more. I personally think it's frustrating to watch a ball being hand thrown into a spot even the best liberos can't reach.

Love the substitution change.

You are partially correct on the single entry rule for subs in the US. NCAA Men's ball goes by the single entry rule, exactly as you described it at about theb7:00 mark in the video. And it's been that way for a long time.

I love the relaxation of the rotation rules. The worst officials I know are the ones who seem like they absolutely live to call a rotation violation. Actually, the worst ones are the ones who call it but then have to take it back when pointed out that they were mistaken. I swear that, when I was the R2, I never called it unless I warned the team first, as in "Hey, coach, #4 has to be behind #12". Personally, as long as I know who can't block or attack in front of 3m, that's all that matters to me.

I'm NGL the entire "but its a short person's only weapon" doesn't really bother me a lot, because realistically, if pushes were your only weapon, you weren't very good or making it to a high level anyways. However, I think making the rules more strict on tips again allows wayyy more subjectivity in referee decisions, which is always a bad thing

Under the previous volleyball rules, registering more than 12 players made it mandatory to include two liberos. However, under the current rules, if you register more than 12 players, you are permitted to register just one libero; you are not required to register two, though you may choose to do so if you wish. That is the difference.

I thank you very much for the informative information you are sharing
Pleese keep it up!!!

Desalegn Demisse from Ethiopia

11:50 last season they changed it so that you can move when its thrown. If they give even more time as you can when the serving player start moving. They also have to make a rule that the server can't move at all before serving. Or they can make a small forward movement without moving their feet, to make the reciving team start moving and then stop. Then do the serv, the result would then be that they moved to early. I think the rule is fine as it is now.

My understading is "tipping the ball" has an upward initial trajectory.

I always hated the strict way referees (and amateur players community in general) demand on hand settings. Ball rotation isn't evidence for double contact at all. And that scenario is even worse in beach volleyball.

Rotation is the most natural movement of a ball. 1 millisecond between right and left hands contact shouldn't make the touch illegal.

O:55 Most major sports consider rules changes every off season.

Like, in recent years, MLB made the DH universal and implemented video review on strike calls. The NFL changed the way the kickoff is handled and added a variety of rules designed to reduce injuries. Even a lesser known sport like Judo implemented new rules on scoring in international competition this year.

Two hand throws may go away but we really need tipping, recycling and more pointed technical plays to stay for volleyball to be more fun and versatile, with longer rallies, more complex defense and in a way faster and cleaner play as you elaborated. So I hope this attempt at impacting reffing won't take that away

19:00 If they wanna change this, they should make it that it as in beachvolley, only hits, knuckle tip, and cuts(spinballs/rolls).

bu kural yeniliklerinin hangi takımları nasıl etkileyeceğiyle ilgili bir video yapar mısınız ?

The problem is that it's not just about individual subjectivity; people are changeable from hour to hour. Furthermore, a referee might not treat both teams equally, even in the same match. If this rule is going to be implemented, strict rules must also be imposed on referees.

I think FIVB should clearly state all the rules and it is also important to publish them Visually so that you can understand the written rules and not hesitate. Since the visual explanation is easy and understandable, it will also be effective in the training of infrastructure players.

9.2.2  YES!  FIVB needs to release videos outlining what is acceptable and what is not.
