Gaming companies don't seem to understand that WE DON'T HAVE THE DAMN MONEY FOR THIS 💔✌️

AI is a GIGANTIC WASTE of resources, time and money currently and it currently is only good in a very limited selection of places

Sounds like the “big” companies need to put out more frequent, smaller projects. Lower the scope of some of these things.

If my only options are streaming and mobile, I'm just gonna quit the hobby.

When it comes to ads in video games, if done ethically would be cool. I feel like if I’m playing COD and I seen run down/blown up Home Depot or McDonalds it would be more immersive. Or instead of a vending machine that says POP it says Coke it would be cool. Going to time square as Spider Man and seeing real companies and billboards instead of just generic ones too. But we all know it’ll probably get out of hand quickly. We can’t have nice things lol

If we don't do something about Ai our govts will bankrupt us as a civilization lol

4:30 for example most tech (VR and consoles especially) pretty much cost double in my country. But I did save for a PC, because I hate cloud gaming.

Clips guy bringing in people from outside the hero shooter space is good work from him.

underground jungle terraria music at the end 🔥

Turning all in game adds into bought spaces for real adds is a dark path. Best case, If it was done properly, where everything fits in universe and the amount of adds are what would be in game anywhere, it still saps world building out of games and pushes things onto people, often kids, in a concerning way, but we all know it won;t be the best case anyway. It will be used to pray on addictions and reinforce bad habits. The consumer will see no benefit and games will have another layer of being tailored for making money over enjoyment.

Even sites that supposedly have strict add filters like youtube kids is repeatedly getting criticised for adverts that contain gambling, violence and softcore porn, getting through the filters. You would see more in game add spots, appearing at points you can't skip like trailers and hidden loading screens, trying to sell shit that doesn't even fit in the universe. It would also reinforce the idea of "always online live service" being the new standard.

People need to get mad about this stuff. Too many people are complacent until it's too late, then wonder why their favorite franchises are being turned into micro transaction stores with half a game attached. They sit there complacent saying things like "well we already have some bad things in games, so what harm is one more", or "this doesn't directly effect me, so why should I care", who then go on to be the ones complaining about how games are being ruined. This shouldn't be seen as acceptible, and Americans especially need to stop accepting being placed below the interests of corpirations.

Renting a system to play on the cloud is asking to get it taken away from you.

i just want to rip the band aid early because the bubble will inevitably pop

I mean i've been using Geforce Now for quite awhile. Originally because my laptop couldn't run Baldur's Gate 3 and I really wanted to play it. I had some concerns when they first implemented the playtime cap but I've never gotten close to the 100 hours before it resets. Maybe for hardcore gamers they may run into issues with it more buts its been more or less a net positive for me.

Also, doesn’t help that these gaming companies are losing millions of dollars on failed games.

32:00 in some cases yes you do have tour stuff out. However when you fire 1000-5000 people and the  executive bunch gets millions in bonuses. Something haves to give

16:39 it's good now it has potential for upgrade and repairbltie also the steam machine was 700 bucks at first then ai market exploded

I want to upgrade my pc but with all thats going on I don’t know. I don’t know if i should just keep saving for an upgrade from my laptop, or just try and get physical games for my PS5 and Wii.

It’s not that ai isn’t useful, it’s that it’s being willfully misplaced in its use. Cooperations want to save money by replacing the workers, when ai is better at replacing their jobs, hence the brute force.

We are at an insane critical mass because these companies were built as fast as possible, so algorithms and machine learning for ai nodes is very basic, causing computation to gradually get so expensive they can’t afford it, but they HAVE to keep building because of the money in it, so there’s no R&D to fix any of this

22:55 one of the biggest reasons studios for example Ubisoft raise their game price from 60 to 80 is due to Sony or Xbox’s 30 percent cut where Sony gets their percentage while the publisher still  gets the money they would have gotten if that percentage wasn’t there so in short you can think of it as a platform tax

35:19 Honestly it'd make sense to have some real world static ads (Ex: Billboards) in certain settings like Modern settings in big cities (IE: Spider-Man), Futuristic settings (IE: Cyberpunk), and I'm sure there are other examples. The ads would have to make sense though. If they start adding Coca Cola ads into games with historic settings like Assassins Creed, or games with fantasy settings like God of War, it's very likely any ads would ruin the whole experience.
