“Can hobbies make you more hot”

I met this girl who is both into magic the gathering, and warhammer. Now I’m not into warhammer, but holy fuck she’s nerdier than me and that was attractive asf.

as a dude who reads as one of their main 3 hobbies, i feel scammed lmao

As someone who likes reading, knows four languages, knows how to play the piano, likes cooking and is trying to improve at whittling, I must be the most attractive person to women ever.

Too bad I already have a boyfriend though.

Speeed is a great channel, it started based around cars but later branched out into men's lifestyle content.
There's are some really good ones about interior design and men's fashion.
It's so grounded and really aware about where the guys who need to hear about it are in their lives.

As a carpenter who dabbled in whittling. I can say for certian. I am single as fuck.

As a women, seeing cooking that low on the list was very surprising and your take on 'playing an instrument' is spot on for me. However if you swap out playing instrument with a general love of music and loves listening to different genre of music, then I can see why it can be that high. But cooking definitely needs to be higher. Not only is it hot to see someone cook but it benefits both parties, since in the end both parties will end up eating the food.

6:31 I grew up in South Florida, Broward. IVE ABSOLUTELY SEEN THIS. I know someone now even though they’re not poor anymore they still do that

To answer the question, "does a hobby make you more or less attractive," it's a yes, but personally speaking, I really don't care. If my date has a hobby I have no interest in, it's not like I'm going to just like them less because of it. I feel like that's a petty thing to get hung up over. "Oh no, they did the thing that makes them happy, suddenly I'm disgusted with them." Like, what?

I get it for stuff like being able to connect with others more easily. If you have common ground with someone, getting along is typically easier, but I'm not going to say someone is less attractive because of their hobby. Unless it's something actively harmful, it shouldn't matter.

Hey  @FlatsTTV chef here from New Zealand, happy to jump on a cooking stream to walk you through it. My home cooking is slow and lets me game for hours, might be a good fit

34:42 call me a musician I play the triangle

As a straight male dancer I feel dancing should 100% be up there. Literally like 80% of the dance demographic is female or gay males and they love someone who can join them in a dance class

Concerning the Most Attractive list, I feel we gotta distinct between some of these items as a skill you develop as a means to survive vs as an actual hobby. Cuz when I think of 'cooking' as a hobby, I imagine a lot of recipe testing, exploration of different flavors, etc, and dedicating a lot of free time to these things. Cooking as a hobby, to me, doesn't include knowing how to make an omelet or roasting potatoes in the oven. Delicious, but the minimum to self-sufficiency doesn't make a hobby

20:51 Not seeing gaming yet on this list makes me scared and glad at the same time lol

I think if you substitute instruments with just music in general that’s fine. Anyone can try to sing, instruments costs money and time to even attempt, and not everyone would’ve had access to that kind of resource when they were kids. Cooking however I don’t think is a fantasy thing, idk if it’s just me, but I like to think cooking is a skill everyone should learn. It’s convenient, it’s useful, and it saves money. What’s not to like🤷‍♂️

If you’re confused about woodworking, just think about Ron Swanson and you’ll understand

Chat doesnt seem to understand what a hobby is. Google the definition. Its a regular activity or interest done for pleasure, during leisurely time.

I'm ngl, I've got some Funkos, but
1. They're all out of the box, on top of my dresser
2. They all tie into my favorite characters in my favorite medias. I've got Loki, Thanos, Jeff the Landshark, Vader, Chewbacca, Spiderman, Venom, Deadpool, Wolverine, Pikachu, Eevee, the Kanto Eeveelutions, Wooloo, ST Demogorgon, etc.
3. I've only got, like, around 25. They all fit on the same dresser (although I did buy the Office advent calendar one year, so I have 24 mini ones I'm not counting in this list).

Hey! Person here who would totally say they’ve picked up learning foreign languages as a hobby.

For me personally, I don’t do it for work. It’s very rewarding to understand something being spoken in another language from your native one, it almost feels like an auditory puzzle. I guess it’s interesting to me to “decode” something and learn a new way of communicating, because from there you open up to different cultures (and I also enjoy learning about cultures, so that ties in). This also could stem from my friends being mostly bilingual immigrants, so I have always been surrounded by people who astonished me by their native language.

I’ll spend hours listening to podcasts, and hahaha, I change my overwatch language to whatever target language I’m trying to learn. And honestly, the variety of languages I’ve been exposed to from overwatch probably had a hand in it too.

Flats x James FINALLY!!!!

33:09 i feel like Flats has it easier to agree with disagreeing that agreeing on agreeing... you get what I mean right? Playing an instrument can be: Piano, violin, Cello, drums, clarinet, a million different things but no! He immediately thought the loudest and I'm gonna go further than that he thought it would HAVE TO BE performed 5 inches from your bed on a Sunday morning at 4 am.... Band practice exists. You can have a hobby that can be done at home but you do it SOMEWHERE else because you play MUSIC with other PEOPLE to make a MELODY. NOT ALL SONGS ARE SOLOS. Am i dumb or is that not obvious? Also the genre of music you play is a GREAT gage of if and how much you're in tune with the other person and goes beyond simply: "what music do you like" because Playing an instrument take devotion, dedication AND its performative so you put a lot more of yourself into it than just lala lala là makes loud noises lala lala là. I think flats legit fell flat on this because he only looked at "Playing an instrument" for your partner instead of looking at it as something you like doing it before because you like playing music or being part of a band. It would be the same as saying Playing videogames doesn't exactly count because the other enjoys it simply for playing together. That's cheap and completely misses all the "understand why you like gaming even when we don't play the same genres or the same game or even together all the time" undertone that makes gaming a unifying experience. Just like that's deeper gears thats turns when you enjoy the same hobby there's a lot more than just "Oh he can play me a song" to playing an instrument.
