If I was a parent and I found out my child had been going by a different name at school and hadn’t told me I would only be upset with myself. I would have failed as a parent if my child didn’t feel safe telling me that.

When I was in 5th grade, in 1982, I decided I wanted to go by my middle name, so my teacher called me by my middle name. No one felt the need to alert my parents. I told my family I wanted to go by my middle name, so they called me that. At the same time, my 5 year old cousin started getting really upset when forced to wear girl clothes, insisted they were a boy, and said they wanted to be called John, so I called them John, and I got in trouble for it. Humans make no sense. My cousin still presents as female, but fully supports their trans child and mine. It makes me so sad, because I can tell they are not happy presenting that way.

Elon hates chess because he cant pay to be good at it

As a really nice and friendly trans person living in the 3rd world of America, I flip-flop between hope and despair. I AM NOT a political talking point, I am a real person.

N is for No, I haven't been outside 😅

"Not a parent in America" - I'm a parent in America, and if I discovered that my kid was being called a different name at school, I'd just want to check that she was okay with it and whether she wanted me to call her that too. Don't lump everyone in with you, Fox News.

16:32 "I curated this in character customization" is SUCH a sick way of putting it!

People who think parents HAVE to be informed about literally everything, don't want to talk about the kids who aren't safe at home. I say this as a parent, I would hope my kids feel they can tell me about wanting to change their names or needing an abortion, but there are parents who will seriously harm their kids if they find out.

53:59 I'm a trans woman and my wife has said almost the exact same thing, has talked about my exploration of womanhood has made her love and appreciate her own so much more and that she loves being a part of my journey.

Ferpa is a privacy law. They're using a privacy law to out trans kids.

I recently came out as a demigirl to my dad! I'm not being treated any differently so I would take that as a success

OT, this is very random but when you interrupted poison I got kinda sad because I get interrupted a lot and don't really get a turn to speak, so it almost made me cry when you apologized for interrupting and gave her an opportunity to speak. Its something small that matters a lot to me so thank you

33:21 fun fact: if you are a good parent, you won't need your local school to out your child to you. Because your child will feel comfortable telling you about their personal life.  Hope that helps Todd and Laura.

I hate when parents think they need to know absolutely everything about their kid. Like, ma’am, if your kid wants to tell you that at a certain point, they will. But since they came to someone else first, and you’re throwing a fit about it, that tells me a whole lot about you that gives me the impression that your kid will most likely never tell you anything.

Putting aside that bro said "AHH" out loud, what on earth does he mean by "performative sleeping"?

Ever seen some of the stories of how some kids get their nicknames?
I've seen it come from cute nicknames or mispronunciation of their name or the kid just wants to be called, "Beet" for a day and refuses to answer to anything else. I mean, c'mon, who does it hurt to have a nickname at school the parent might not know. Also, if the kid wanted their parents to know, they would know already.
Forcing schools to out trans kids will only do one thing: make them wait longer and get sneakier.

Oh no my son asked to be called ray instead of Raymond. Ooo nooo

yeah, as a trans educator none of those people on that fox news know dick about education and they especially know nothing about ferpa. i feel very honored that poison is getting swole to protect me!
