I'm your host, Darren Van Dam and today we're talking about the best movies ever released as unrated. These movies are all too extreme for an R rating but aren't adult films like most X Rated movies. Each one of these bucked the system, many of them contributed to the creation of the NC-17 rating but all of them offer more than just extreme content for the sake of it.

Tired of looking for good movies to watch on Netflix, Amazon Prime or other streaming services? Every week I recommend a handful of the best movies on Netflix, Amazon, HBO etc. so my subscribers never run out of good movies to watch on streaming. Spending 10 minutes watching one of my videos could save you hours of searching, hours that you could otherwise spend watching good movies on streaming that you otherwise might not have ever watched or even known about.

Thanks for watching!

Lars Von Trier depicts realism in film in such an uncomfortably unfiltered way, you have to appreciate it.

The Brown Bunny (2003) written, directed and starring Vincent Gallo, deserves an honorable mention. It's mostly known for one particular scene with him and Chloë Sevigny 👀

Took my wife to a late showing of 'Dawn of the dead'. In a shopping mall theater. Coming out of the movie into a closed mall with the muzak playing in the background was one of the creepiest feelings ever.

You mentioned two, Kids and Requiem for a Dream. I'll toss in Bad Lieutenant. Movies that I never want to watch again but I'm glad that I did see them. Oh and American Psycho.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the Terrifier and Evil Dead movies!
The scene in Terrifier 2 where Art rips an upside down naked woman from stem to stern is one of the most graphic scenes ever.
I also remember watching the 1st Evil Dead movie in the theater, and when the women gets dragged away by a tree that grapes her, the whole theater erupted in laughter. I later watched Evil Dead 2 while with a girlfriend, and the scene where the severed hand pops out of the bucket and gives Ash the middle finger... unforgettable!

First time I ever saw Dawn I was a teenager and it was on a big screen during a midnight show. Seeing the black ghoul bite into his wife's shoulder in the first half hour caused me cold sweat nightmares for nearly a week. Looking back, I realize that it was the bold colors that traumatized me so. The husband's blue skin, his wife's chocolate tone and the tomato juice blood combined to give me night terrors for days.

I was 7 when I first watched Evil Dead and I 💩 myself and then I grew up and it’s comical to say the least! 😂😅😂

Evil Dead 2 is my favorite movie of all time. They did attempt to get an R rating. It was the reason Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, Scott Speigel and Bruce Campbell opted for multicolored blood. Sam Raimi said he thought it would make the violence “too cartoonish” for an “X” rating. The Shell Company Dino De Larentiis created to release the film was only made because that attempt failed and he said he was unable to release an unrated film through his film company. People speculated for a while that the “Evil Ed” dismemberment and “chop top” attack were cut to avoid the “X”, however it was debunked when they said Sam thought the whole sequence was “too outlandish” and didn’t look good.

I used to love reading the columns “Joe Bob Briggs at the drive-in “ 😊

HAHA! Joe Bob Briggs!!! Basketcase became one of our favorites in college because of Joe Bob!!! And Re-animator!!! Another one of our favorites!

I'm so tickled to see a shoutout to Joe Bob. Reanimator is another of his faves.

Surprisingly I have seen most of these movies in their uncut versions. (Hatchet 2 and Evil Dead(s) are my favorites)

"Reanimator," Dawn/Day of the Dead," and the "Evil Dead" movies are all so fun.

"Henry" was based on the serial killer Henry Lee Lucas. But the true story is much more disturbing. But the one you didn't list is "A Serbian Film", truly one that will haunt you, and make you want to take a shower after.

I love and own "This film is not yet rated" and was the first film I thought of when I saw the title of this list.

@ACoustaDC 1 month ago

This is what get's me about the rating system. Take "Midnight Cowboy" famous for it's x rating... and now, you could show it on TV uncut.

Antichrist I bought on a whim years ago at amoeba records… Along with The Erotic Man using a Xmas gift card, back in late 2010. Ultimately it got me into a deep dive of LVT films. Great stuff.
