For many of us, pleasure can actually feel threatening.
When you’ve spent years masking, bracing, staying hypervigilant, or feeling disconnected from your body, slowing down enough to notice what feels good can feel surprisingly uncomfortable.
In this conversation, I’m joined by Dana Dozzyy to explore pleasure through the lens of the female nervous system, neurodivergence, masking, and learning to feel safe in our bodies.
And when we say “pleasure,” we’re not just talking about sex. We’re talking about noticing the texture of clothing against your skin, moving your body to music, looking at the trees, experiencing beauty, allowing yourself to soften, and paying attention to what makes your body say, “I want more of that.”
We explore:
✨ Why pleasure can feel threatening—and how we begin changing that
✨ Hypervigilance, masking, and disconnection from the body
✨ Pleasure, oxytocin, and the female nervous system
✨ Hypermobility, compression, and the need for containment
✨ Why we can’t always learn our way into feeling safe
Sometimes understanding ourselves intellectually is only the beginning. At some point, our nervous system needs new experiences.
