Tom Hanks is one of my most favorite actors, Forrest Gump is in my top 10 favorite movies. Tom Hanks brother for those who don't know actually did most in the scenes where he was running.
Ltn. Dan saying that about becoming an âastronautâ is a hint to something from the novel. Spoiler, but in the novel a LOT more happens to Forrest, including becoming an astronaut, getting launched into space with a female astronaut, and the wrong gorilla. They become stranded on an island for a few years. Thereâs much more, so I wonât spoil it. Just now that Forrest knows how to cuss/swear in the novel and doesâŚa bunch lol.
Damn Spicy Sugar, I thought you had both seen Forrest Gump Before, absolutely phenomenal film, Tom Hanks deserved the Oscar her got for this film, the music was fantastic in this film too. Also a great cast in this film, with Gary Sinise starring with Tom Hanks again, there are 3 film with both of these actors together, Forrest Gump, Apollo 13 and The Green Mile, 3 fantastic films. Anothe rOscar winning film with Tom Hanks is Philadelphia, also starring Denzel Washinton, a MUST WATCH film.
From Elvis to AIDS (or Hep C in the book) Forrest Gump is the story of an entire generation; the historical touchstones, the music, the traumas, and the philosophical questions we wrestled with. Forrest is a true savant, slow by some standards but able to excel in many areas and able to remember everything he sees or hears (which is why he is able to repeat everything verbatim). Just being near him brings people success. Lieutenant Dan was eventually able to leave his anger behind and deal with his trauma. Even though it took decades, with Forrest's influence, Jenny was finally able to stop trying to fly away from it all and overcome her trauma and see herself as worthy of his love. (The background song playing while she was on the high balcony was Free Bird and when he walks away from her grave a flock of birds takes wing.) It shows how much of a true gift it is to be raised with love and patience so that one has that basis to view life and the world from. Forrest's philosophy of just doing what you need to do is kind of like The Tao of Gump. I enjoy watching people react to the movie because it is fun to see which pieces of American history are still part of our cultural memory and which are being forgotten. My favorite line is the bittersweet, "Sometimes, I guess there just aren't enough rocks."
15:56 When Forrest's microphone was cut off during the anti-Vietnam war rally in Washington D.C., he said: "Sometimes when people go to Vietnam, they go home to their Mommaâs without any legs. Sometimes they don't go home at all. That's a bad thing. That's all I have to say about that.â Source: Tom Hanks revealed this unheard dialogue in interviews, explaining Forrest was simply stating his war experience.
Hi Kim & Liv! You should react to The Elephant Man (1980)!!! It's one of the best movies ever made (yes, that is my opinion). It's based on the life of an actual man and a doctor who rescued him from a horrible situation. It was intentionally, strategically, made in black & white. I know you will love it!!! ⤠Have your tissues ready!
1. Love the soundtrack. Copyright royalties must have cost a small fortune.đ¤đ¤
2. When Forrest gets up to talk at the Vietnam rally in Washington, the microphone plug is pulled, and you cannot hear him. According to Tom Hanks he said, "In Vietnam, sometimes when people go to Vietnam, they go home to their mommas without any legs. Sometimes they don't go home at all. That's a bad thing. That's all I have to say about that." 3. "Sometimes, I guess, there just aren't enough rocks."đĽš
