Bill Parcells almost didn't make it during his first year as the head coach for the NY Giants but it was during his second year that when he became a real NFL head coach

Remember watching this game at age 13, missed the end of it bc I fell asleep (Plus I had school in the AM) R.I.P. Giff, Dandy Don, and Howard. MNF hasn't been the same

1983 was an awful season! I started watching The Giants in 1984. Was 8 years old. I missed the awful teams of the late 64-83 (my father lived those awful Giants seasons). I was spoiled from 1984-2011. Now, I guess it’s time for me to suffer horrible Giants teams (2013-2020) as my father did in the 70’s.
Have no fear though, I have a 3 year old son. When he’s 8, in 2025, The Giants will go on a great run again lol.

To me this was the season that solidified LT as the greatest defensive player ever. He went to Parcells and volunteered to play inside linebacker to help the team with Carson out. Never played the position and ended up making All-Pro at outside & inside never been done before or since…

thanks for posting this Ken!  I was 10 years old at the time and had a bed time at the time!  Now I can watch a bright spot of an otherwise bad season in its entirety!

Hearing cosell mention lt gives me chills, cosell on his way to ending his broadcast career as lt was in the early stage as an nfl player

Hard to believe that Parcels and Giants lost 12 games in 1983 season.  They set the stage for future greatness.

It seemed that simms from when you could see a sideline shot stayed as far away from parcells and looked really pissed that he was not in there.i did not agree that Brunner should be starting over him . I simms didnt get hurt again I have a feeling that Brunner would be sitting for the rest of the 83 season
