Do you think parents should be allowed to create their own homeschool curriculum?🤔

Kids shouldn't be filmed like this.. It's sad, just listen to Ruby Frank's daughter, it did so much damage to her 🙏🏻

they dress like they're in a target ad lmao

Also, the kids taking care of the siblings they didn't consent to have is so real. My mom complains to this day that I've started working very late, but she forgets to acknowledge that I was the primary caretaker for my cousins she adopted, my grandma and the house, from the age of 15 to the age of 21. I've never really got to be a teenager, go out or have a job, because I was often unable to go to job interviews, otherwise the kids would be alone with an old lady who couldn't even walk

18:40 Admitting they don’t want their 9 year old to go to school so they can have an extra pair of hands around the house to help with the new baby is CRAZY.

Im sorry, theyre cherry picking what history to teach? AND using chatGPT? oh sure, nothing could ever go wrong with that 😅

If i had kids I'd be dressing them in neon colors to protest my fellow millennials. No sad beige babies lol

I was homeschooled between 1999-2007 because my mom didn't want me learning sex education or other "ungodly" things. I was originally taught through workbooks, then my mom decided she hated that and put me on the computer. I learned nothing. I retained even less, and had to teach myself in place of my mom (and yes, it was incredibly easy to cheat). At 37, I still feel like I'm catching up to my peers to this day. None of it was worth it.

The downplaying of the amount of work necessary to be an educator will never be anything but infuriating to me. I have a Master's in education and technology, but I would never homeschool a kid without extensive community support, not just with curricula but with consistent socialization with other kids their age.

The dog prank still breaks my heart. This would have hurt me so deeply as an adult, let alone as a child.

There is really no way to do family channels in an ethical way that doesn’t exploit the children.

I spent 500+ dollars to attend a church hosted homeschool group for what i thought was my last year of high-school. The day I was suppose to walk my parents presented me with their homemade graduation certificate and told me that they tried to send in ny transcripts but  were told they weren’t legitimate because they never took me for the state testing.

I have a lot of anger, resentment, and insecurity around that.

I was homeschooled, i don't recommend it, yes i passed the yearly test but it was barely. My mom brags about her teaching me but most of my education are things i taught myself or stuff my girlfriend(she went to public school)and dad taught me in their free time, and when i bring that up my mom says "well you have more experience talking to adults in a professional manner and how to cook" which yes i do spend most of my time hanging around people much older than me rather than my OWN AGE, that stunted a whole lot of things. I do not recommend homeschooling
Edit: another issue with hanging out with mostly adults and old people is when you're small you start thinking adults and children can be friends which lead to me getting really hurt by people i was supposed to trust

i was homeschooled. my mom would order (reviewed and approved) books/curriculum and teach me right from the text, even learning along with me. she had me go to a co-op once a week which was basically one-day school, so I was still socialized and learning from more than just my mom. My mom did not just teach me whatever she thought was important, she taught me everything I needed to know.
IMO parents should not make their own curriculum UNLESS they are a qualified specialist in their field. (like how college professors will teach from their own book)

I'll be honest, I was adopted at 6 years old to be the maid. This means yes I raised the kids while I was a kid. I to this day struggle because I never got taught to regulate my own emotions or learned to take care of myself.

I feel so bad for that girl being denied an education so you can help your parents usually is indicative of a larger issue in the family.

I was home schooled until the 9th grade when I started going to public school part time. My mom wanted me to go to public school for science because she didn't feel confident teaching that subject at higher grade levels. I also took many art electives and was able to do pottery and stained glass which I never would've been able to do at home. I also took photography, computer, graphic design and college level English classes while going to school part time. I personally think that's the best way to home school; realizing your personal limits as a teacher and giving your child the chance to take classes they'd never be able to at home.

11:34 "Those aren't clouds, we dont have clouds in California" bruh what

12:53 as someone who’s had to evacuate from fires multiple times (literally just got back home today from a fire that I was evacuated from on Saturday) it’s such bullshit they used that fire. When you’re truly worried about what to pack and when to leave, last thing you’re going to think of is vlogging. Especially when you have so many kids.

In Illinois you were not required to have credentials or regular testing. 20 years ago my parents pulled my brother and I out after he experienced extreme bullying due to his autistic traits. We went in for standardized testing every year at a local private school that allowed us to participate. We were always ahead of our grade level. My mom treated teaching us as a fulltime job. We had set school type curriculums AND learned math through baking and playing monopoly. When done correctly, homeschooling is a great option. MOST do not do it correctly.
