Was Brittany’s apology genuine or damage control?🤔🤔 I'd like to believe it's genuine, but 💯 mixed with PR

the amount of people that like to fake cancer is so disturbing.. i just turned 21 and now i have to graduate college later because i got cancer last fall and it fully disrupted my life. so much was ruined for me when i did chemo, and seeing these people get to say "yea i have cancer!" but not have to deal with cancer ruining your life is so frustrating

not to sound too woo-woo or whatever, but i cannot imagine willingly speaking potentiall illness into your life like that.

Why is it that when people fake something, they always go extreme? They never fake having hay fever or something. Instead it has to be stage three cancer.

My dad had cancer, twice, he pulled through both times but the second time his chances were less than 20% for survival. First time, i was 2 years old, couldn't even write and my dad suddenly just disappeared. No children allowed to visit so we wrote letters. Mt scribbles in the book disappeared after about a month and a half. I just couldn't understand what happened, where he was or why i had to write. I would scream, and cry and tell that i wanted my dad. I wanted to talk to him. When he came home i would scream the house down when he went to work every night. The second time i was 13. I understood more but mam kept the survival chance from us. I remember sitting at the top of the stairs and listening to my mother cry as she listened to Africa by Toto, or Buddy Holly, Raining in my Heart. Me and my brother hugging her nonstop. I remember visiting him in the hospital and leaving my favourite teddy with him. Faking something like this, that absolutely tears people to pieces, is the worst thing ever.

As a british person, hearing you say british things is like breaking the fourth wall haha

You can fake anything you want, as soon as you accept money or "donations" for it, it is considered fraude but is not always punishable by law.

In the UK if you have suspected cancer you are put on a 2 week list, this means you will see your consultant and have all tests and results within those 2 weeks.

Lost my mom to cancer, not long after it was diagnosed. I couldn’t be by her side when she passed. I didn’t get to say goodbye. It’s been six years and I’m still not over it.

People who fake cancer are scum and will never receive neither grace nor empathy from me.

To answer the question of free healthcare, I'm in the UK and have cancer (hairy cell leukaemia). I haven't paid a single penny for any of my treatment - so that's chemotherapy, 2+ weeks hospital stay, all food and drink while in hospital, biopsies, regular specialist appointments, etc They also give you a card so you get any prescription completely free (even if it isn't cancer-related). Even hospital parking is free for my chemo and specialist sessions

Mental health is a whole other story, though. Free but extreme waiting lists

My husband, a man i knew since we were toddlers, died from gastric cancer one year ago. He was my everything. He was fine one minute then he wasn't. Stomach, kidney, and liver cancer. Chemotherapy for no reason, and 10 months later he was gone. I was laying down with him as he died, felt his last breath, felt his last heartbeat.  My mother died almost exactly one year before that. I'm alone, no family, and people like this woman make me want to, let's say, do something not very nice to her. The pain he went through,  now the pain I'm going through, and she fakes it? Oh hell no.

it’s mento illness luv xx

We have free health care, my grandma got cancer 2 years ago, they made her wait over a YEAR for her to even get a specialist to TALK to her about treatments, she was literally telling me how she feels like they are waiting for her to die rather than waiting to help her and we couldn't do anything about it other than call daily if they have space for her now

This woman sounds like my worst nightmare. I have a best friend, we’ve been best friends for 33 years. We don’t beg each other to hang out on the weekends.

When you said about someone taking a cold makes me think about the big bang theory when Amy keeps acting sick after getting better so Sheldon would take care of here

when I was 1 my mom was diagnosed with colon cancer, stage 3. She fought for 14 years of surgeries and shit and survived. When I was like 5-8 years old, I didn't understand how to explain that my mom had cancer, but I hurt/was sad so I would say that I had cancer to make it make sense to me. I didn't fully understand what was going on, but everyone in my life said she was really sick and a ton of people told me that she'd likely die. Classmates, teachers, other parents would talk to me about dying and death almost like preparing me; so cancer really scared me- but I left like while my mom was dying, I'd die with her. I genuinely didn't understand that I would continue living without her; I thought that if she was gone, I'd go to heaven with her. I'm describing all this to say that... that's the mind of a child trying to cope with her mother's potential demise whereas this woman was quite literally emotionally and traditionally scamming people for money. Its not a tiny mistake that can be washed away, you searched for sympathy, kept it going, expected solidarity and now you're sorry once you've already received the validation you were looking for. Lying about sickness is a child's gambit, they are learning, 27-year-old women are not still learning about what is/isn't a lie, and what scamming is because we already know that much- she knew what she was doing and I don't accept "oopsies" as a valid excuse. God forbid, if she does get cancer at some point- people wont be as ready to believe or sympathize with her.

59:00 the fake crying the entire video is SO GRATING

This was a wilddddd story!
On the topic of the fundraiser - even if we can get treatments for free on the NHS, you're right that the wait times can be super long, but even if she as getting free NHs sessions, it's likely she was talking about money for travel to and from the appointments, as it can be really difficult to get to hospitals with specialist wards so you have to pay for overpriced taxis and shuttle buses, and also for stuff like food because it's hard to take care of the house/cooking/etc when you're in heavy treatments.

people should absolutely go to jail for faking cancer and profitting off of it. -_-

Telling someone you have cancer is not a "mistake" ... you have to 100% come up with that plan and it doesn't accidentally come out of your mouth. You have to decide to say it. That's one thing that bugs me is when people say that they made a mistake by saying something that's completely untrue. 😮
