Learning how to pan is easy. Get yourself a gold pan, fine sandpaper to get rid of the factory finish and three BBs. Get a tub of water, I use a plastic concrete mixing tub, a pan full of dirt. Put the BBs in the dirt and start panning it out. If you can pan down to the black sand and manage to keep all three BB each time, every time, you will get the gold. Re-concentrate (shake) frequently. A drop of Jet Dry or Dawn in the water will break the surface tension and help keep the really small flakes. I did this method until I could get through a pan in a couple of minutes or less and still have the BBs. My prospecting buddy could get through a pan in less than a minute and not miss a thing. He taught classes on how to pan. I am a geologist and can tell you that this guy had a nose for gold like I have never seen.
There is lots of gold in the Uwharrie National Forest. You can pan all you want but detectors are not allowed. I tried panning there twice. Found some flour gold the first time. The second time, the creeks were all dried up.
I always told my buddy if we had gold in our creeks near me. That would be my second job during the summer lol. I cant think of the youtuber name. I believe he is in Australia and he goes in the river with a snorkel and moves the rock around and suck it up in the bottles. Some of his trips. He will find grams after grams to once sometimes. I have always wanted to go pan for the gold. I think that would be fun
XP makes the best gold pans on the market. Snake skin section for fine gold. Wash and season the pans prior to use. Use a floculent like jet dry in the pan to prevent loss of fine gold. It will float.
I really don't know what you are better at hunting with metal detectors or making movies. That was exciting.I know in South Carolina there is or was a huge gold mining area because at one point i worked on truck air conditioning and my boss said i may have to go to a huge gold mine up the road and repair a air conditioner in a gold mining digging machine. With all those gold hunting detectors you may end up in Colorado,California,Nevada or Arizona.😮🎉
Your Manticore with the M8 Is a fantastic gold machine! I just got one and its hunting tiny flakes with a clear signal in spicy bedrock. Nugget hunting is different than other types of detecting. We listen for faint whispers. small soft tones. sometimes just a slight variation in threshold thats repeatable can turn into a deep hole with lump of gold stuck in the clay at the bottom....Once you experience it there is no turning back
