Can I Score at Malvern Flea? Antique Dealer's POV

Taliesin Antiques

Is Malvern Flea & Collectors Fair still a place where dealers find genuine antiques? In this 45-minute walk-round I hunt through stalls, Indian antiques, Chinese porcelain, African carvings, rare lamps and quirky paperweights - and ask: can you still buy to sell?

If you’re a dealer or serious collector analysing market value, join me as I weigh up whether Malvern is still worth the trip or whether the smart play has shifted elsewhere.

➡️ Want to see what I ended up buying? Scroll to around 35 minutes.

Great vid ....I missed that malvern so could watch this all day ( search junky ) I know half the dealers there and a great fun day .....note : if I see a good thing ( good profit ) I pay full asking price ....for a few quid of its simply undignified to haggle ....that's probably why iv got so many mates there ! 😅

I mamage to sell most things at the Stafford show but the price to stand was steep

Could you move the camera more slowly over the exhibits.

Love the vid. Do you have any recommendations for where to learn more about identifying antiques?

На последнем столе был оранжевый мундштук в коробочке. Можно было бы проверить, не из бакелита ли он.

The whale lamps are truly amazing. I sold a richardson paperweight that had a early queen victoria canework head in the middle for over 400 and some of the canework had bubbles had risen to the top so it was naive and imperfect so your paperweight is a nice buy and besides your staffordshire pottery being repro which is a shame i can see profit in it as it is highly decorative and somewhat appealing. I find my habit is my first buy is always worse than my second buy but if i dont make a first buy then how can i make a second buy😂. Taking your time at a antiques fair doesnt always work because the good stuff is gone usually if one is dithering. You will always make mistakes its part of the job so dont beat yourself up about it.

The insidious creep of fakes and repro items at antique fairs is becoming an increasing problem. Personally, if I see any fakes on a stall, I do not buy from that seller no matter what else they may have. This is a concrete and immovable rule. It is buyer beware and I very much beware.

I was usually doing Malvern flea market taking good return I been ill for 6 month so it ,my first fair since then
so decided to sell everything cheap Had a large 2 foot bronze could not even get 75 pounds for it was priced 265 in a antique shop had it for swap.
Everything i had no one made me a fair offer going home with 120 pounds, I never sell
modern items .so do not price up .As it so large you were walking past me at 24,32 Had 3 full tables good trade stock outside ????I think malvern was bad because no body wanted
to pay a price had oliver clare painting worth 600 - 800 could not even get offer around 250

Unfortunately I find the way you film, I can't watch your videos. You pan round very quickly and it makes me feel sick. I just fast forward to the end of the video, where you show the pieces you have purchased and talk about them.
