Is Instagram becoming the new way to buy antiques? I went to Malvern Flea after spotting antiques from dealers on social media, including a monumental Japanese champlevé enamel vase and a decoy duck from Fetch and Found Antiques.

I arranged to meet dealers at the fair, looked around Malvern for extra finds, and came home with Japanese enamel, Islamic metalware, a Nepalese mask, rare Danish pottery, Indian Bidri and more. Some pieces were planned before I arrived, others were found the old-fashioned way, so the real question is whether social media is now part of the hunt or just another distraction.

I think this is one of the best videos you’ve done. A fascinating shop and so much to see and learn about. Had a bit of a laugh over the idiot shooting the poor dog. You did a good job of covering the stock with limited time. The lighting was a bit poor but not your fault. And a very practical, likeable shopkeeper. A few more videos like this would be great. And, this is a bit unkind, not just the really good ones. Sometimes we learn a lot from the bad and the ugly as well. Just a thought. And, also being a bit unkind, the shop felt a bit crowded, slightly jumbled. Not enough space seems to be every dealer/ collectors’ nightmare.

You mentioned Troika...Bargain Hunt on BBC was responsible some time ago for a surge of interest in this Pottery's pieces...prices shot up as a result except those of the plain white high gloss (with dark blue accents on some designs) range...it is a totally different look and, to my eyes, much classier...I do enjoy your videos and your gentle enthusiasm...

Kieran I find your videos so interesting as a sort of retired dealer. Its great to see young people coming into the business. You buy things I would never have looked at, so I'm still learning.
I'm in Northern Ireland but I go on a mission trip to Kenya and Tanzania twice a year. I'll be off again in October. To be truthful I've never seen antiques there as I go to very poor areas but if it was worthwhile I could maybe find a way to source things. When I say I'm sort of retired, I mean I only sell for my charity. I think you also mentioned Waterford crystal. It sells very cheaply here because theres so much so if you want me to look out for anything let me know.The same is true of Belleek. Im easy to find on facebook, same name and photo if you want anything. No problem if you don't. I think I'll register with instagram after what you've said.

I follow you from Thailand. I deal from my home here and it is very difficult to sell online. I guess postage is expensive and people tend to think if it comes from here its a scam. Well from me it certainly is not! I am not good at social media and in the next few weeks I'll have some help with that. In my home we have 1600 pieces, mainly smalls but a few larger things too. I know my prices are quite low because I have to factor in the shipping costs but also because we can buy so much cheaper than you can in the UK. But overall I have stunning pieces from Thailand, Burma, Japan and China. If only I could sell my home here and move back, it would be great to do Malvern, Newark and the other fairs. If anyone is coming to Chiang Mai they are welcome to look at our stuff!!!

You vids are very interesting. I enjoy them and learn new. Actually bought a islamic copper pot with white metal inlay (silver?) Not quite sure what I got apart from it’s got the age. Can I mail you a pic?
