I personally love using my 8-1200 f1.8 pancake lense because of how light and small it is

One of the best lessons I learn in photography is: you don't need to cover all focal lentghs. You just need the lenses you like for your purposes.
Finding your photography interests is the most difficult part.

My first full frame lense was the Tamron 28-75 mm f2.8, I used that thing for like 3 years, it got the job done most of the time.

Picked up an used A7C (shutter count <700) with the 50mm 1.8 for 900 USD. Best investment in a while.

That hair tho 🔥

Mainly portrait...my two-lens kit is Sigma 105mm f/1.4 ART and Sigma 40mm f/1.4 ART.

I choose the tamron 20-40 f2.8 and tamron 50-300 f4.5-6.3, with the same philosophy. I make more street photo than landscape and 35 to 40mm are my favorite range, so the 20-40 make more sens for me but not ultra wild angle  (the sony 16-35 f2.8 would be perfect but too big and toooooo expensive).
The 50-300 is perfect for all the rest, sharp, compact for a telezoom, not bright like a 70-200 f2.8 but i dont shoot concert and i dont use tele for night street photo. I like to have 300mm for wildlife photo and it's a pretty lense for proxy/macro, so... not the best of the best lenses but close to for amateur photographer.

For my light weight travel kit, which encompasses landscape & city photography, I take a 16mm f/1.8 G, for wide, interior & astro photography, on an A7CR. Then I have the Tamron 25-200mm f/2.8-5.6 on an A7Rvi, for everything else. Both lenses have a 67mm filter size. With the ability to crop with the 60+MP sensors on the Sony bodies I find that I am covered for 99% of my photography. If I need wider than 16mm, I will shoot a panorama series of shots and merge in Lr/Ps. The 25-200mm gets me close enough to macro for my travel needs. I will usually pack the tiny Sony FE 28-60mm f/4-5.6 which only weighs 167gms as a backup lens, just in case... Before the Tamron 25-200 came out ,I used the Tamron 28-200mm f/2.8-5.6 successfully for many years with an ultra light Samyang 18mm f/2.8.  For studio work I like the heavy Sony GM lenses, but for travel and hiking the kit listed above is my go to.

I have the Sony a6400 I want to focus on night street photography, what would be the best lenses for this

i have recently thought i just want the more higher end lenses and really trying to focus in on what i would need...cuz i have a bunch of lenses and so many go suuuuuch a long time being unused. being more intentional with gear is a MUST which you have perfected over so much time and experience

Lenses, watches, etc. there is never enough.

Mine lens kit for 80% of my work (which is mostly travel and landscape) is a wide angle zoom (my Nikon 14-30mm lens) and a standard-ish zoom (my Nikon 24-120 Z lens).  This gives me from 14-120mm which is plenty for pretty much most of what I do, and these lenses are not that heavy (but part of that is because they are fixed f/4 lenses, so a bit on the slower side).  And honestly the great thing is that these two lenses go on sale frequently so you could get both new for a little over $2k combined, so they aren't all that expensive by any means.  I honestly feel that for landscape at least, the variable aperture or slower fixed aperture lenses (the f/4 or 5.6 lenses) are perfectly fine as you're probably going to be shooting stepped down to 5.6 or smaller anyway in most cases.

(In the Nikon system, the equivalent to that Tamron 25-200 would be their Z 24-200, which is OK but it does suffer from softness at the longer focal lengths.  My hope is that they re-work this lens and perhaps make the longer FLS (from about 135-200mm) sharper.  I had this lens but sold it to get the Z 24-120 which I enjoy using.  I gave up some focal range for much better optical quality / sharpness in the 24-120).

The R bodies expose the flaws in the 25-200 (or the 28-200). I prefer to split it 24-50 and a 50-300.

I Haven't seen Your Videos in a while.... Great one as usual

Just picked up an A7III used after years of watching photography videos. Perfect timing 😂

Love this video!

I have two lenses right now on Sony APSC. A f/2.8 18-50 (27-75) and a f/1.4 56 (84). Currently trying to decide on a super wide or a telephoto.

My go too at the moment is my Tamron 18-300mm on my A6400.
Macro, landscape, and wildlife together in a package that can fit in a small-ish camera sling.
HOWEVER, i recently picked up some vintage 1970's pentax K prime lenses (28mm F2.8, and a 50mm F2).
And i'm quite liking the pocket size primes, only downside is the E mount to Pentax K adaptor i have to carry in addition.

Canon Bird Photographer here.  My 2 lenses are RF100-500L.   AWESOME  lens and the EF24-105L.
I also have a 1.4 Teleconverter that I rarely use.  I therefore have 24mm to 500mm... then up to 800mm with the the TC.  Plus I am shooting with a crop sensor , so multiply all that by 1.6. 😊

Heading to Italy this summer. My setup is the a7cii, sony 24-50 2.8G, 85 1.8, tt 11mm fisheye.
