📣#1 Lens Cap CLARIFICATION - it seems that a lot of folks misunderstood us 🙇 what we are trying to say is… if you have your camera out and around your neck especially while traveling, our suggestion is to also leave the lens cap off so that you would be prepared for any sudden amazing photo opportunities!

We are just saying it would be a shame to bring out such a nice camera and go through the trouble of carrying it around just to miss something cool because the lens cap got in the way. Or in the VONG's case, missing everything because I leave my camera in my backpack 😅

However when it’s time to pack the camera into our bags, we should of course put the lens cap back on to protect it from dust, dirt, and other loose items in the bag. This point was brought up in Chapter 3. 😎

Hope this clears up our intentions behind #1! Other helpful commenters also suggest flipping and leaving the lens hood on to protect the lens from accidental bumps!

As a beginner, I can relate to the "JUST RAW." I don't have energy to edit all of them, nor do I want to delete those to edit later. As a result, I don't post anything; just myy storage is getting filled up day by day.

I disagree with #1. Lens cap protects lens from dust inside your bag. Removing lens cap is less time consuming than cleaning your lens from time to time.

Another bad habit I've learned over the years is always going for the best gear, instead of the gear you'll use all the time. For example, not having a compact setup that encourages you to regularly take it with you will hurt your photography because you'll be shooting less than if you did. I love my a1ii with 70-200 GM, but I rarely take it out for casual photography because it's so inconvenient to carry. Even my a1 with the 35 GM usually sits on the shelf. But a compact camera with a small lens by the front door is easy to grab and go and never miss anything. To a certain extent, modern cell phone cameras mitigate against this, but you don't get the same practice and experience you would as using a full body camera- which leads to improved photography skill over time.

When you clean that sensor, you can level up your cleaning by first creating a clean room.  Your bathroom.  Turn on your shower and get it real steamy.  The steam will bind with the dust in the air like a filter.  Leave it closed, wait 15 minutes for the bulk of the steam to go away.  Head back in and clean your sensor.  I have cleaned mine in my work area and light coming through the window was hitting just right for me to see what looked like more dust falling into the sensor than was even being removed.  Also, leaving ths sensor facing the ground when you swap lenses.

#3 Don't shoot mirrorless, problem of dust on the sensor solved

#5 "Bokeh" has become totally cliched, to the point of being annoying

Last time I paid for school photos of my kids, (instead of just taking them myself), the portraits were done in front of a green screen - Besides the choice of backgrounds offered, there was also a sub-selection for the amount of background blur, from "slight" to "extreme". Fake bokeh on a fake background honestly broke for me forever the idea of paying someone else to do school photos of my kids

You can get one of those covers that fit over the lens hood to protect the front element, it's a lot faster than trying to unclip a lens cap while still protecting your lens.

There as been a number of times that I take the lens cap off and just drop it on the ground. But if I am walking around with the camera on my shoulder I rarely have a cap on.

I put the cap back on immediately only when im shooting film. As for my digital cameras i lost the cap lol

My girl literally bumped and scratched the lens when i repeatedly told her to put the hood back on. Many of us here are amateurs and not photographers. Bad advice imo
