Actually my all time favorite USWA wrestler was Brickhouse Brown. While he wasn't one of the organization's biggest stars, he was IMO one of the best to watch. A perfect "tweener" that made for an exciting match time and again. I did eventually get to meet the man in person. And he was just as relatable, funny and personable outside the ring, as he was a performer between the ropes. As for my favorite match, it has to be a draw of several. My first was watching Brickhouse capture the WCWA Texas heavyweight title. As one of my favorite wrestlers, I had always seen him win minor titles such as the CWA Southern or Tag Team titles (of which he never wore for very long). But that night to see him climb the ladder to a relevant title was a thrill for me.
Next would have to be the night Lawler FINALLY captured the AWA World title and take it away from Curt Henning. Nevermind the reality that the AWA was on its last legs, but to finally see Lawler win the big one after decades of always coming up short, was a great win for me (and Southern/Memphis) wrestling fans alike.
My last 2 are a tie for different reasons, but still hold dear places in my heart. When Jeff Jarrett defeated Eric Embry for the WCCW Light heavyweight title and the night Iceman King Parsons beat Kerry Von Eric for the WCCW World title (with an assist to the Freebirds). For Jarrett, I saw him leap up several rungs out of Southern mediocrity. He was slowly climbing the ladder to join Jerry Lawler and Bill Dundee as the stars upon which USWA would be built. The Parsons win was a major rug being pulled out from underneath me. It was amazing to finally see a black man win a major world title (to me) for the first time ever. Before WCW took the step to put a black man in the top spot, WCCW took the step. And even let him carry it for a good while. Showing that his run wasn't just another NWA KVE World title run.

I loved reading about the WWF-USWA feud in the Apter mags while it was never acknowledged on WWF TV.

I was also lucky enough to get to see Smoky Mountain, even though I lived in Maryland. Inside the Squared Circle had an agreement to air it, and Cornette did their intro.

"Sid Vicious fought Johnny Rotten, probably not the first time for that sentence" LOL!

Memphis Wrestling was a huge part of my life for twenty years. So many great memories of watching.

Sid just might have been the most aesthetically perfect wrestler ever. Imposing yet lean physique, huge, a face made for TV. Just a shame he had "half the brain" needed to be competent in the ring to paraphrase the man himself. Still, I'll always be a mark for him, the master and ruler of the world!

I grew up on uswa I remember waking up to watching it and it was great memories and Brian Christopher was underrated

The Moondogs vs Lawler and Jarrett was the feud of the year and only gets a passing mention at best

I remember seeing Vince McMahon wearing the old AWA World title.
I can only imagine what Verne Gagne was thinking.

As a non English speaker i really appreciate you talking with a clear tone and slowly

PLEASE KEEP YOUR DEFUNCT WRESTLING FEDERATION VIDEOS THIS LONG!!

Really appreciate this video!  Growing up in Western Kentucky, we were watching Lawler and Co. from an early age.....  USWA/Memphis Wrestling is still special to a lot of us.

Born in Memphis. I remember going to the mid south coliseum and the fairgrounds to watch USWA matches. I remember seeing Flex Cavana aka The Rock at the fairgrounds in Memphis. Great times.

This documentary video is SO good, it makes me want to just binge watch USWA till my eyes bleed

USWA was so cool it had corny things to it but that is expected with wrestling it was still cool I was a young boy in NYC and couldn’t tell you how I found it flicking through channels but once I found it and figured it out I watched every show possible along with what ever other wrestling I could find on the weekends beside them, WWE, NWA, WCW and everything else from around the world! Love it! Wrestling on the weekends was my weekend getaway!

Wait a Guitar was broken in a match with Jeff Jarrett but it wasn't broke by Jeff Jarrett? That can't be

Does anybody else remember when the USA network would show replays of Monday night raw on Thursday nights? And then they had a special for the last episode?

Thank you so much for this. When I was a kid, buying PWI and other magazines in the UK was the only way to see what else was out there apart from WWF and WCW. I was obsessed with both SMW and USWA as they seemed almost other worldly and almost the antithesis of the mainstream. Your series and channel mean a lot to this old wrestling fan

This is an awesome video. USWA storylines in the early 90s was predicting the Attitude era to come.

Used to watch USWA every week.  Memphis just 45 min from where I lived anyway.

At around 2:15 I was thinking "who is that Bobby Heenan knockoff?" only to then suddenly realize it was Paul Bearer pre-Undertaker!
