Video Description:

Can you still collect retro games from Goodwill in 2025?

In this video, I put that question to the test by diving into Goodwill’s online auction site in search of PlayStation 2 games. Instead of spending my own money, I started by buying broken PS2 consoles, repairing them, and flipping them for profit — then using that money to hunt for games I actually wanted to keep.

What started as a simple experiment turned into a full-on game hunt, ending with one of the most expensive and sought-after PS2 games out there: Silent Hill 2.

Along the way, we’ll talk about:

Why retro games rarely show up in physical Goodwill stores anymore

How Goodwill auctions really work for collectors

Whether bundles and auctions can still save you money

And if retro game hunting at Goodwill is still worth it today

Just a friendly tip from one seller to another. When your shipping just the disc it's a good idea to sandwich in between 2 pieces of cardboard for protection. I say this because I've had discs damaged in transit when shipping the way you did. USPS isnt always gentle with packages.

The PS2 came with some signature Silent Hill 2 roaches 😂

Just so you know, the reason why the Greatest Hits Silent Hill 2 is usually worth more than the black label one is that there is extra content on it that isn't on the black label version. The greatest hits version has the Restless Dreams content on it.

I remember the day every goodwill in my city told me "we don't carry video games in the stores, you have to go online and get them there now". Saddest day for me and almost killed my love for retro collecting

Not sure if you'll see this, but you shouldn't be using a vacuum to clean electronics. This will create electrostatic discharge, which can damage the chips inside the device. Great job on the videos though! You inspired my family to collect retro again!

For the freezing PS2, as mentioned in another comment, be sure to check the resistors and capacitors. You may also need to give everything a really good clean and possibly change out the thermal pads.

Found this video randomly from YT recommends and i went into it think you were just going to a Good Will to hunt for games as the title stated but damn was this a phenomenal watch!

I love how you formatted the video, the process of testing the PS2's, cleaning them, selling etc

I am genuinely baffled you're at 29k subs ONLY, with how high quality your videos are, you're by all metrics a professional and deserve at least 100-500k+ subs in all honesty!

Incredible work man!

25:42 Oof...Bro I'm pretty sure that is a bed bug carcass. Just be careful with these old consoles because you never know what might be inside em, and you do not want to have to deal with bed bugs. Trust and believe me.

23:09 brother always place the old consoles outside, use a leaf blower on low. Then, hit with some Lysol in a bag with the console, then close up the bag for the night. Anything in there will be dead. I had over 800 consoles bought and sold this year. I always place outside regardless how dirty or clean.

22:53 facts from a pest control technician. Roaches don’t lay there eggs they actually hold on to them until they are about to hatch . Cannibalism will happen if they just drop the sacks . They love the electricity tho with the dark creaves they will thrive .

I'm so glad you clean up the merchandise. Shame on folks selling dirty merchandise. Terrible!

One tinkerer to another, make sure that you test ps2 consoles with EVERY COMPATIBLE GAME DISC. I say this with much respect, I have had ps2 consoles that had lasers that absolutely refused to play one type of disc but would fire right up with others. Testing with them all protects your integrity if the buyer finds a fault in the laser and assures a good, long lasting reputation as a seller.
