OK everyone I had this exact same problem I change the air pump I change the valve I changed all the spark plugs I changed the coils and still had it sputtering then I tried something by resetting the computer in the car by disconnecting the battery getting a jumper wire and connecting the two cables together and turning the lights on and leaving it for 15 minutes disconnect it from the battery completely be sure to put something on top of the terminals to prevent any sparking or arcing after 15 minutes reconnect the battery terminals turn your lights off start the car and let it run idling for about 10 to 15 minutes then go for a drive that will last about 10 minutes preferably on the freeway this erased all the problems that I was having with the car and reset the ECU! I hope this helps everyone if you still have a persistent problem with these error codes

My wife's 2008 Smart with only 32,898 miles had a screaming air pump and after searching for help, I found your video.
When I first looked at the mounting set up, I wondered why the pump couldn't be removed by just unscrewing the 3 torx screws into the frame rail.
Hardest one to remove was the one on the left-top-end. I found a long-needle-nose pliers got it out.
The 2 remaining torx screws were fairly easy to remove.
Finally, I was able to wiggle the whole thing out!
Removed and replaced the pump....the black molded part on the left side of the pump was still mounted to the main frame.
Reversed the installation, BUT I did not install the left torx screw I removed with the need nose pliers.
The whole assembly was held solidly to the frame rail with on;y 2 torx screws.
Everything worked and the pump is whisper quiet.

How do I change a smog pump on a 2005 Buick lacrosse

I had the same problem with the  air pump.   I replace the air pump myself it's not that hard to change it.   At first I thought the air pump was the only problem and I found out that the air pump had water inside and I didn't know why .  After I replace the second air pump after 3 weeks the air pump stopped working again and I took it out again and find out that it has water  inside  again.  I watch some videos to see why  air pump gets water inside and find out that the problem is the GER valve is the problem .    If anybody knows a website where I can purchase a new GER VALVE for a 2009 Smart fourtow please let me know

I had my air pump replaced recently for my 2013 Fortwo, but it still makes noise. Is this normal? It's not as much noise as before, but the mechanic said "they all make noise to some extent", which sounded like BS to me.

I have not had the code yet but mine is whining more loudly lately.  Love the video in case I have to service or replace mine.

I bought the parts but haven’t had the nerve to replace.   I’m pretty handy with replacing things.   I heard from someone before it was hard to do and he couldn’t get all the star bolts back in.

Wish there was a “bypass” for this… mine just came on after charging the oil pump! Never again on that task 😡

Did it fix your situation? I got that valve changed (the one you made video as well). Check engine turned on again. So, I got the secondary air pump replaced. The light turned on again. I need to get smog test done soon. What don’t know what to do.
