So very glad this episode came out during suicide prevention month. As someone who’s thought about doing it a lot I feel for Hal a lot. Seeing John and Hal bond was very nice to see

One detail that stood out to me is that John wearing his poncho and rowing the boat as Hal talked about his life is essentially Hal being rowed down the River Styx. The off planet scenes are already very mythic in imagery so I thought it was cool to really hammer home that mythological imagery with such a clear parallel.

young hal coming back to get the baseball at the end gave me chills

I think Hal might’ve picked G12 because L is the 12th letter of the alphabet so his storage is GL

John instantly getting his hoo ray from Halogram for keeping a construct alive without the ring on OMFG!

Giving Martin a mustache so Sinestro retroactively resembles him more, just so Hal can more clearly see the father figure he never had, it might be too obvious but I still love it

Edit: Don’t know why I said “he never had”. I clearly should’ve said “he lost” instead.

The scene of Halogram describing his father’s death definitely hit me pretty hard. My father didn’t intentionally end his own life as far as anyone knows or is sure, though the context of how it happened makes me think he might’ve intended it. That and I’ve had my own struggles, so the whole thing in general hit hard. Seeing someone (the Halogram) come to terms with their own suicide is an odd gut punch I don’t think I’ve ever seen in other media though it makes me sad all the same.

Going straight from that episode to the cheery opening of this video was quite some tonal whiplash, but it was welcome from me as I wasn’t expected to cry this much today and it’s nice to watch something mostly cheery when I’m sad.

Surprised you didnt pick up when John was driving he was flipping through the radio and a Pastor can be heard saying "John 16:13" which is
"But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come"
Which kinda speaks for itself with the episode

"It's almost like you...want to die, Hal Jordan." Ooof. This echoes all the way back to the first episode.

4:30 so glad you're around - was only introduced to you at the start of this channel but i've been around since its inception and you are still one of my favorite sources for comic universe stuff on the internet! i'm not on youtube as much as i was last year because it feels like more than ever the Internet Comic Influencer community has become overrun with grifters and people who claim to love the medium while using gen AI for thumbnails or scripts. you've always come across as passionate, knowledgeable, authentic, principled, and even radical in some of your takes which i really resonate with personally. i hope you really revel in the moments when you allow yourself to sink into that feeling of accomplishment and influence!

As a father who constantly battles with the feeling of thinking my loved ones would be better off without me, this reeeaaaalllyyy broke me. Bruh I couldn’t stop crying 😭

what if sinestro is there to harness the gas to make his ring, and this is actually qward & the guardians sent the manhunters to wipe out the qwardians as they saw them as a rival group, then threw the manhunters under the bus to cover it up

"He had no reason to know that Mogo was a planet."
True, but he did know that Hal had used the phrase "Mogo doesn't socialise" as a password, so he should have suspected that the Halogram was testing him by asking whether Mogo had come to the funeral.

Full agree about how incredible Kelly McDonald's acting was in that scene

I'm finally starting to believe in people's theories that Parallax may be coming. I think the yellow Lanterns are definitely coming. Loved episode seven. Hyped for the finale.

I’ve had entire decades of my life where I felt the same as Hal. It gets exhausting, and on the very infrequent good days, it scares me to know at some point I’ll just give up and give in to that voice.

I cannot fathom how this can possibly get wrapped up in one more episode. Hal's murder, Sinestro, what's going on with Noah (I assume he's at least more than human and possible a full on Manhunter), what is John's future, and so many other things that could be returning too

The best line in the episode was John's "I didn't kill you, I only wished I had." 🤣

Hal’s brief monologue about pain and the Jordan Boys Legacy, really hit me hard as I definitely feel that way pretty much all the time (especially in the dip I’m currently living in). Such a beautiful performance, a wonderful script. Absolutely perfect.

This was probably the best episode so far. Kyle has been killing it the whole series. In this episode Aaron got his time to shine. There was great character development as well. As someone who deals with suicidal ideation due to PTSD and anxiety stemming from  service in the Marines this episode was a gut punch. Hal is a favorite character of mine because he’s so damn broken and alone. He really doesn’t have great relationships. Hell… Bruce has the Bat family to back him up. Hal doesn’t have any of that. He’s not married, doesn’t have kids. Ollie has Black Canary. Bruce has Selina. Hal has his ring and endless space. That’s why I think Kyle is the best version of Hal we have ever seen.
