Just uploaded a new video about the quick release system that basically upgrades the 5564 to the 5565 apart from the fluidhead. Please let me know what you think of that solution😊

Finally...I've been waiting on a review like this.  TY!

great video but all in all, we mustn't forget the fact that they are primarily Monopods. Having the mini tripod on the bottom is a great bonus. For on the go, sports photography etc, the so called "Cheaper one"  is definitely the better option without mods from third party products.

I’ve tried so many monopods over the years and they all have quirks.

The Smallrig one fixes every single problem I have had with them and it’s my new favorite. Truly goated

There are some questions regarding the quick release system. There is also one for the monitor which is important for the center of gravity and the stability. Should I make another video about that?

thanks for your sharing:face-blue-smiling:

With the monpod with uneven surface can be a problem

Grazzie ! Good one thanks

The quick release system makes all the difference!! Great overview, I’ll go for the cheaper one but with my own quick release system

I have the Coman M1Pro V5 version of the Smallrig 5565 (i.e. exactly the same monopod and quick release system, but different colours and their "B2" Carbon Fibre pattern - plus they bundle a video head that handles up to 10kg. Albeit, the height adjustment handle on the SmallRig version is nicer). Overall, it's a fantastic asset for photography - especially when you need to hold a heavy 800mm lens for long period waiting for a bird such as a Rainbow Bee-Eater to dive off its perch. The fluid video head allows quick movement. Monopod is extremely light .... but the irony is that the CNC manufactured metal head, tripod legs, and Quick Release system are comparatively heavy. The extra height over the 5564 is useful for my needs. The ability to hook the tripod legs and head together for low angle shots is also likely to be useful at some point. However, for photographers, I'd recommend forgoing the video head with the big Manfrotto 501 plate as its too big (inconvenient to handhold, plus the plate spins due to a single 1/4 inch pin), and it has sharp corners. Instead, exclude the usual supplied (expensive) fluid video head, and select your own smaller video head with arca-swiss (I ended up putting an arca-swiss adapter on mine which works but would be better if not needed). When carrying in the field you can ditch the bag. Instead, I added some Peak Design anchors and just carry it over my back with a camera strap meaning that its very light and easy - particularly since I like handholding most of the time as I explore for wildlife. If ordering directly from China via AliExpress or similar - look closely at the delivery times, freight costs, and shop reviews - as I was used to earlier orders taking just 12 days to reach Australia but found that Coman's default shipping is two months. Fortunately most vendors there selling the SmallRig still do the usual 12 day shipping time.

Now what if I bought the photography one and just replaced the head with a fluid head how would that work?

For a 3-to-1 price difference, I prefer the cheaper one.

With the 5565 can you use any other head with quick release? Thanks

At least put a camera on the stands so we have a tiny idea about what its like using the thing.

What exact model of the Ulanzi quick release system are you using at the bottom of the monopod?

Better to buy 5564 + DH10 head, better than 5565 for only +- 20-50 EUR more in total... Max 10kg and other advantages.

Are u worried it’s gonna tip over? Looks wobbly?

Thank you for the review! Would you say the smaller head monopod would be sufficient and stable enough to hold a Horn I steady M7? I want something small, yet stable when I need to set up my gimbal at higher setups by myself.

Have you try the yc onion monopod

amazing setup. what is the part(s)? quick release and ifootage replacement feet
