Is the Red Dead Redemption games really as good as we thought? Here's the brutal truth...

I went back and replayed Red Dead Redemption, Undead Nightmare and Red Dead Redemption 2 to see if they really live up to the legendary status they have today. From the story and characters to the open world, gameplay, and attention to detail — this is my honest retrospective on what aged well, what didn’t, and whether the hype is still justified. #gaming

RDR2 is legitimately in contention for the greatest game of all time.

RDR is a classic but RDR2 is.a.bonefide work of art, a gaming masterpiece.

I can’t explain just how special RDR2 is to me. I have never felt so immersed in a game before until playing that game for the first time in 2019. I just replayed it again in February after buying it for PS5 and it was just as good as I remember. The game is an absolute masterpiece. I honestly feel sorry for people who don’t “get it.”

People saying the red dead series is overrated are iPad kids who have the attention span of a squirrel

Im 63 and have been an avid gamer since the late 70s, and over the years I have played countless games.
RDR2 is the most immersive and detailed game ive ever played.
The game has now hit 4th place of the highest selling games of all time with 79 million copies sold.
Imo, it is the greatest game ever made.

rdr2 is a slow paced video game , people with low attention span won't survive this masterpiece and may call it overrated .

The Red Dead Redemption series is my favorite series ever.

RDR series is for adults that like a true pace of life game that doesn't have sparkly affects and flashing lights during combat. for players that truly appreciate the art that is put into this game.

It’s actually underrated

I also didn't like Guarma that much but that's entirely the point. It exists to show that Dutch's promise of a better life elsewhere is a myth. The same corruption, violence and death exist in the 'Tahiti' they are trying to reach.

Red dead two is the modern day Mona Lisa it’s literally perfection

I have PTSD from John and Arthur’s deaths

The last ride of Arthur Morgan, the way he puts on his hat on one last time, it made me - a grown a** man cry. I had tears throughout the sequence while the greatest character in gaming history rode his horse one last time. And his high honor ending is etched in my brain like nothing else I've experienced in all these years of gaming.

RDR2 is like a therapy to me... there were so many days throughout the last two years where I just opened that game and started walking around the nature, riding my horse, fishing, hunting, not doing anything ''extreme'', it helped me relax so much! The ambient music and the sounds of nature honestly have a healing factor to them.

Red Dead Redemption is to video games what Breaking Bad and The Godfather are to Television and Film. Yeah I'm sure TikTok kids find those boring too but their opinions don't mean anything. Any adult that appreciates good writing will tell you these are all works of art

The first is like a spaghetti western, being more gritty and full of characters that wear as much dirt as they do clothing. The second is closer to some of the more loosely historically based westerns, but still keeps the tropes of the classic movies. Undead Nightmare is a fun mix of the spaghetti western and some of the weird b horror westerns that had everything from a wild west show hunting purple dinosaurs to Billy the Kid facing off against Dracula. All are fun, but are so wildly different from each other that it's sometimes hard to compare them. Even RDR2's online mode has an Undead Nightmare mode around Halloween, unfortunately lacking the blunderbuss or horses of the apocalypse (you do get a discount on beans, though).
