A remarkable man, multi-talented and with a knack of explaining country things in a gentle, easy and entertaining manner. I loved his relaxed demeanor, puffing on his peaceful pipe.

He made a quality of programme we will never see again.

He  was what tv should be about, telling us about how wonderful things were and people  who used to live in the country side.

Southern Television was a superb franchise with quality programming. It was a scandal when it lost the franchise for Southern England in 1981.

Jack, Fred Dibnah, John Noakes… I’m no longer a kid, by a long chalk. I do hope kids have their equivalent of these guys now on TV and beyond. I suspect an in vain hope.

as a child i loved HOW on TV, especially JACK, he always came across as a person that was prepared to take time to explain things in detail. Miss his wisdom and knowledge.

Jack Hargreaves a true legend Englishman and true gentleman.
