PS5 Generation Is a Complete Disaster

The Game Explainers

12,369 views

In this video, we talk about why the PS5 generation has become one of the most disappointing eras in PlayStation history. From launch shortages, rising console and PS Plus prices, lack of first-party games, endless remakes and remasters, failed live-service projects, Concord's massive failure, the shift toward a digital-only future, physical game preservation, PlayStation Store monopoly concerns, and Sony's poor communication with its community.

Ps5 feels like it never really launched

I am on one of those people who have decided that the PS5 will be my last console. I've been a gamer since the 80's, and have been so fortunate to grow up through the golden age of gaming and to see it blossom to where we are now. I will be going backwards from now on. There are so many great games I have not yet played. Sony just helped calibrate my mind and I realise, that for me, there is much more value in going backwards in gaming, than going forward.

The End of PS has come. Let's remember the golden days and say farewell to the legacy.

I said it before, and I'll say it again. I switched from PlayStation to PC back in 2017 and then for the committed full time (5 years later, 2022). All because I can't stand Herman Holst has pulled the same move as David Zasalaf.

It started gradually—wondering why things were going downhill, why it felt repetitive, why we were getting bored when it hadn't been like that before; that’s how it began, with those initial realizations.

PS5 lacks exclusive games. Remake fatigue

Missed that some of the earlier Sony published games for PS5 like Ragnarök and Forbidden West were actually PS4 games upgraded on PS5

Message to Naughty Dog:
We want NOTHING to do with Last of Us. We know all roads lead to Pt2 and we want nothing of it

Unless Sony makes PS6 an open platform like PC? The system is DOA.

It’s sad because the generation started strong with backwards compatibility with PS4 titles and a decent enough launch window with Rift Apart and Demon’s Souls. The directors cuts of enhanced PS4 titles were nice too. Then, from about 2022 onward,…..fucking nothing but love services failures, studio closures (still mad about how Bluepoint was treated), price hikes, and online infrastructure failures. Jesus, what happened to you, Sony?

@MotoP20 2 months ago

PS4 PRO was technically the last great SONY PLAYSTATION CONSOLE..
How much have we really advanced since its release in 2016??
I say none. Only bad things have happened.
Prices go up. Options go down.

I spent the entire generation waiting for games that never came; to this day the only PS5-titles I own are launch titles, Space Marine 2 and Robocop.
Not buying a PS6 to wait another 6 years for games to materialise, especially if it doesn't have a disc drive, you can keep it Sony.

The PS2 was my last console. Back in 2002 I joined the PC Master Race

What do you call the PS5 generation? I call it the last of us part three.

@dubstar2364 2 months ago

5:55 And yet Sony killed off Killzone, Modnation Racers, SOCOM, Motorstorm, and Jak and Daxter. A Motorstorm or Killzone on PS5 would be awesome 😮‍💨
