If I knew the new tracks were coming this soon I might have put off the video a little more but, I’m gonna be real busy with videos next month so here’s the vid anyway ‼‼

It's genuinely surreal not only seeing something new for F-Zero besides Captain Falcon in Smash Bros, but also one that's been catching mainstream attention. It's been so long, I thought the only thing that'd be keeping the spirit of this series alive in the future would be Aero GPX. Huge shoutout to that game btw. It looks super promising so far and the dev seems to have some stuff planned for it he's keeping under the hood, so I cannot wait to see what kinda spins he puts on the formula.

The reason they added Port Town II before Port Town I is because in the original SNES F-Zero, Port Town II was one of the seven tracks you could play in Practice mode. The others were White Land I and all the tracks in the Knight League, so the starting track lineup of this game consisted of those tracks. I don't know why the SNES game didn't just let you practice on any of the tracks, but it's a nice homage regardless.

6:06 Man, sometimes, it feels good just to FINISH the race, no matter what place you're in! Crashing out sucks so hard because most (if not all) of the time, it's your fault!

...and ranking out feels even worse! First time that happened to me, I felt exactly like that Scott The Woz clip.

I like how you also get a sub placing in the post race screen seeing how you placed for the specific car you are, like you could get 15th overall in the race but be the 2nd highest placed blue falcon which is another thing to make a defeat have less sting or on a personal level still feel like a victory

I remember my whole mindset when this first dropped on the Nintendo Direct: "F-ZERO???? NO WAY...huh.  Oh available today, well better go try it, it's literally the newest F-Zero content we've gotten in almost 20 years".  Did the tutorials, started doing a few races and something just kinda clicked.  I thought back to X and GX and remember when I used to say "gee imagine playing these with 29 other people online".  A pipeline dream that would be a miracle in my eyes.  Fast forward to FZ99, a few races in, seeing so many cars at once, seeing that KO on another player give me all my boost back, suddenly I went "oh my god this is something I didn't know I wanted so badly".

Continue playing, seeing cool unlocks and designs and badges etc playing an hour or so a day.  A week later I see "Mew2King" and thought damn I wonder if that was the real one.  Then I run into Lythero and we queued up several races in a row until I eventually saw him nab a 1st place finish, then I finally nabbed one too fueled by that desire to do the same after he did.  It's crazy running into all kinds of people playing this game, and I'm seeing people out the woodworks suddenly exploring the other games or continuing to play FZ99, like recently CONEY did a GX upload and seeing him be like "wait what do you mean this is a GOOD game?" just makes me hopeful for the future.

There are some minor issues with FZ99, but the main thing that this leaves me thinking is that they are testing the waters.  If FZ99 remains popular it will probably stick around for a year or two, but I don't think they will pull it like the other 99 games without giving us something else F-Zero related to play on the Switch or the next Nintendo console whatever it may be.

It's a great game. Love hearing from all these people who've never played an F-Zero before how much they're enjoying it.

10:19 wow...that's exactly how long we waited for Metroid Dread!

The music from the series is fantastic

I wasn't expecting that gamescage clip AT ALL
