Quick tip to ANYONE EVER PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, this game cannot be played with a keyboard or controller without analog triggers, the game demands and is built for sensitivity for every bit of your movement, only like this can you truly begin to understand the controls

This game literally ought to be considered up there in the pantheon of "greatest games of all time" - Ocarina of Time, DOOM, Final Fantasy VII, Half-Life, Resident Evil 4, etc. - right up with them is F-Zero GX.

The point about having characters in racing games. Yes, this is the biggest advantage F-Zero has always had over most futuristic racers. Glad that certain games like Star Racer and Aero GPX feature them, too.

I wish we studied William Shakespeare's F-Zero GX at school

This is the best racing video game of all time and it's not even close. The incredibly tight gameplay, the sheer amount of content put it above and beyond everything else, but then there's the lore and the incredible attentio to detail put into building the personality and lore of each and every character.

"I'm going to have to cobra Kai his ass" - this absolutely came out of left field and sent me at 2am.... Hope I didn't wake anyone 😂😂😂

Absolute classic

3:28 it actually doesn't remove the energy cost. It's just that the recharge rate is so damn fast it's hard to tell that you are indeed still using energy at the same time as you're refilling it.
Also a massive tip I would give anyone playing GX, is to go into the settings and calibrate their controller. The default calibration is not only unfit for your controller. But it  registers 50% input as 100% steering, making the vehicles way more sensitive than they should be.

Great overview. I still have this for my Gamecube. I'm glad this pre-dated the Steam feature of "time played" because, uh.... nevermind. The fact that you had to run over mines in the final story race is madness.

this game was so good i bothered to 100% it twice. and not only am i not a racing game person, i generally dont bother going for 100% usually. but everything about it is so good. the ceiling is endless, and the game expects you to want to improve. gives you the tools to do better but doesnt hold your hand.

Thank you for making all the great points, including that 99 will eventually go offline, regardless of how fun it is, and then we are back to GX on NSO being the most recent home console game available. You might enjoy Aero GPX if you're looking for a spiritual successor

3:24 I laughed so hard. Great timing on that one

Absolutely love this game. Great video!

Can probably shave 3 off that 12 count of AX machines in the states. The Circus Circus casino seemingly got rid of the three it had recently when renovating the adventure dome and midway and I haven't been able to dig up any info on where the AX machines went

The thing with unlocking the content through Fzero-AX is that it only works with a Japanese version of Fzero-GX.

Or at least that’s what I think considering an Fzero-AX cabinet is relatively close to were I live and I tried using my memory card with Fzero-GX data.  I think it’s because the cabinets are all Japanese versions because they didn’t initially release Fzero AX outside of Japan

13:30 - They had 2 AX machines when I went to SGDQ 2025. I wonder if they'll have them again this year

Missed this title back when we played that gen of console. I wonder if I can get it running on my current hardware ;)

it's a timeless masterpiece, but why the hell is it so much more difficult on switch 2 than what i remember? i used to finish first place on master mode with ease and now i can't. i used to blast through Cosmo Terminal constantly tapping the boost button and considered it an easy track, but now i can't even finish it because i keep skidding off the track. i dug out my old gamecube controller from 20 years ago and that has improved things a bit, but still difficult.

Voy a Monterrey la semana que viene y buscare el arcade de F zero

I've never played this game (never even heard of it), but if I did, playing as a character named Pico would be crossed off my list immediately. XD

I have failed to understand the issue with those 9 new characters that are unlocked through story missions on highest difficulty. You said that the addition of those characters is "game-altering"; how is it a bad thing? is it bad because they are OP as opponents in GPs? I'm sure if I've played the game I would understand what you meant, but as it is I don't get it. Feel free to fill me in))

That aside, I liked the video! It made the game sound interesting and fun to play)))
