Welcome to VERDY Channel! 💜
Today I'm reacting to Casino Royale (2006) for the very first time!

It's time to enter a completely new era of James Bond as I finally meet Daniel Craig's 007! 🍸

After making my way through the previous Bond movies, I was incredibly curious to see what this new version of the character would be like. And WOW... this definitely feels different! Daniel Craig brings a completely different energy to Bond, and I was not prepared for how intense this movie would get.

The action, the casino scenes, the tension, the characters... this was one HECK of an introduction to the Daniel Craig era.

Let me know what you thought of Casino Royale and where it ranks among your favorite James Bond movies!

Whenever I see someone react to this, I think "ah, we're on to one of the new movies." Then I remember that its 20 years old now!

GREAT reaction, Verdy! I loved every second of it.
There were so many "why am I holding my breath?" moments throughout this Daniel Craig as Bond inaugural film.
No Q Branch; no Moneypenny innuendo laced banter. Just ice cold 007 assassin James Bond, raw & unfiltered.

I was pleasantly surprised at how much of the book they kept in this adaptation, including the Bond torture scene. Of course, it was updated to more modern times.

Even though Connery is my favorite Bond actor, this still might be my favorite Bond movie.

I liked how you were gently rocking out to the intro song. Very cute 😊

Ms. Verdy! You watching Bond get tortured, nearly die, poison himself, and then casually win a poker hand like it’s a normal Tuesday afternoon is so great! 😂
And honestly, this felt almost like classic Bond in all the classic ways.. gorgeous locations, cool gadgets and cars, and Bond somehow surviving everything by just being bond.. That Parkour chase was great..That guy was moving like his bones were gone.
Your thoughtful lowkey reactions somehow make all the chaos 10x funnier. You don’t need to scream or talk the whole time , your expressions when something wild happens is everything! 💙

3 things about this film:

1. Le Chiffre is a reference to the villain being just a number in the organization—a nobody, just an accountant. That's why he was killed so easily.
2. I think Bond knew about Mathis' treason because of the "bluff." How did Le Chiffre win? Because Mathis told him that Bond had discovered he was bluffing.
3. Houses in Venice don't just float. They have wooden pillars underwater that support their structures.

It’s a perfect movie. It is glorious not just as a Bond movie, but as any movie as well.

Tsai Chin who played the older Asian lady on the yacht with Le Chiffre also played the enemy agent girl who set up Bond (Sean Connery) at the beginning of You Only Live Twice.

Fun fact: The red dress Vesper wears makes her look similar to the "Lady in the red dress" in Matrix, but its actually a hommage to the horror movie Don’t Look Now from 1973.

YES ! FINALLY ! You're gonna enjoy this series of movies.

This is one of my favorite Bond films. Now get ready to see the next Bond adventure, "Quantum of Solace", from 2008.

I’m glad you clarified the meaning of Le Chiffre, I had previously looked it up on google translate but that came up with “the figure”. I had guessed that meant numerical figures, rather than say, an imposing figure, still it’s nice to have a confirmation. English can be such a confusing language sometimes.

As an old guy, it pains me to admit it but the Craig 007s are my favorites.

Thanks Verdy. When they basically rebooted the franchise with Daniel Craig, it did indeed notch-up the action level. Funny, I love the early Bond, too, especially Sean Connery, but "realism" was filmed differently in the '60s than it is now. It's darker and grittier.
I think Daniel Craig has been excellent, but smiles less than other Bonds.😊

I remember hearing that the car stunt where Vesper is in the middle of the road broke the world for the amount of rolls/flips a car does in one stunt, I'm pretty sure it's with a stunt driver inside too.
