🤦🤦🛥

Lol “So she’s not your mom,” oh how I love it.

Simon, whoever made that thumbnail (respectfully) should've done better with research. That ship is the Weimar era SS Berlin, a German passenger ship given to the soviets after 1946 and then named Nakhimov...

I think the person who made the thumbnail was a bit confused lol

The Admiral Nakhimov is a prestige ship that is very expensive to maintain and it would be very unlikely that they would put that ship to the harm´s way. For Russia it would be cheaper and more efficient to have 6 modern 10000 ton guided missile destroyers than to maintain their Kirov class nuclear battlecruisers the Admiral Nakhimov and the Petr Velikye.

I give her 6 months before she catches fire and has to be towed back to port

"A layered defense" is exactly what the Moskva was supposed to have... and didn't xD

Oh look, another ship about to meet naval and airborne drones.  But this one says "FOCUS ON ME, I AM EXPENSIVE"

Me thinks you are showing the wrong ship in the thumbnail. I don't think that is a battlecruiser.🤔 Someone is confusing ships again.

Edit: As of the morning of 10/10/25 on the East coast of the USA, they have changed the thumbnail to the correct ship. For those who missed the joke, it originally showed the cruise ship Admiral Nakhimov (nee SS Berlin) instead of the Battle cruiser. 😅😅

My destroyer had a Conex box placed on it plus eight antennas for one deployment, our job was to mimic a battle group and soak up missiles launched by this beast and her sisters.

1:53 Beautiful image. A Kirov Class possibly Pjotr Veliky following the famous Black Smoke of the Seven Seas... Admiral Kuznyecov  😅

"Sailing through Borrowed Time"
Effing Brill--- Who came up with that line.  Love it.

People do not realize the complexities with nuclear propulsion.  It works okay for submarines because they can operate at a consistent power level for months on end and they generally stay down at depths where the water temperature is so cold that it allows them to dissipate excess heat much more easily.  Surface ships that use this nuclear power have to be so incredibly engineered that it's truly awe-inspiring to anyone that even remotely understands the complexities of the science and math involved.  Nuclear reactors cannot just be throttled up and down at whim (any movie where the Commanding Officer orders them to go to 105% on the reactor is just making stuff up - even going to 80% on the reactor requires a team of folks sitting down with charts and graphs and computer-models and working in out for hours to make sure everything is going to be cool).  When you start pulling out control rods (to produce more power) it starts a fission-chain in the fuel that takes billions of years to fully complete.  And every step of that chain has varying effects on the reactor output.  You start with a bit of extra power, then the fuel will fission into products that actually absorb fast neutrons (which decreases reactor output), then those products will fission again into all new products that, overall, spike reactor power back up well above the initial power increase you got when you first started pulling out control rods.  When you "adjust the throttle" on a nuclear ship - it will take hours and hours for those inputs to take full-effect.  And, you have to make sure, when those delayed power spikes (technically known as: transients) do start to happen that the ship is making enough speed through the water that the condensers can dissipate that heat.  If you overload the condensers and they stop drawing a vacuum in the steam-cycle, then steam will start to condense in the turbines which will cause catastrophic failure of the turbines.  On nuclear powered ships, the reactor officers are planning many weeks (to a lesser extent, even months) in advance to make sure that they are not going to do anything next Thursday which will potentially cause overlapping transients to trigger a potential thermal runaway six weeks from now.  They also have to carefully map when and how they move control rods around and how they circulate moderating fluid to ensure they don't create any hotspots (pockets within the core where significantly more fission has been permitted to occur than in other areas).  If you screw up the timing or the geometry of your control rod movements, you can create a condition with the fuel that requires a complete shutdown of the reactor, getting the ship towed back to dry-dock, cutting out the reactor, moving it to a confinement facility, removing the fuel, and completely replacing the guts of the reactor core.  This is quite possibly what caused these ships to be shelved in this case.  The engineers or operators may have made mistakes and realized that they have to disassemble the whole thing and start over because they've developed hotspots that will cause a meltdown if not corrected.

Wow.. that's the biggest Submarine I've ever seen.

Sounds like, single ship threat on level with the Bismarck in WW2

What is that thumbnail? That’s not the ship in the video

I'm sure they'll maintain her just as well as the Kutnetsov. I hear the Russian tug fleet it preparing to escort her around.

The Thumbnail shows the wrong ship 😂😂😂

Without a solid navy to back her up she'll get sunk in her first serious engagement.

Plus:

The mere fact that Admiral Nakhimov's Nuclear Reactor is a Mini Chernobyl,  awaiting to go boom

Nakhimov's Comeback might be its Requiem and Last Hurrah...

Without even fulfilling its intended purpose😎
