90s Stallone was immense as Nick said - Cliffhanger, Demolition Man, Judge Dredd, Assassins, The Specialist, Cop Land - very underrated

Awesome commentary! I'm glad that there are others who love this film. It's cheesy but it's fun.

I think Demolition Man is the better movie, but both are my guilty pleasures.

No reference to the other UK 90s comic that Hollywood didn't understand? Tank Girl!

This is mental, I just re-watched your Dredd retrospective and now you've uploaded this! It must be a maneuver of strange cosmic forces! Or a coincidence

Didn't realise you were from my neck of the woods Oliver. Growing up I thought I was the only person into geek culture in Norfolk! I actually find a lot of enjoyment in this movie, even if it isn't a great Dredd movie. I love the costume and effect designs. I'd love to see a practical effect like we see in this movie for Mean machine's arm used in a Masters of the Universe film for Trap Jaw. Sadly it will no doubt be CGI.

I'm not ashamed to admit that I like this film.

Thrilled to hear you guys mention Streets of Fire. It’s one of my favorite movies and always hope you’ll cover it one day.

I think Nick likes the costumes

Assante and Sly also played brothers in Paradise Alley (1976)

I’m In for this one Oliver! An amazing movie!!

I also loved it when I first saw it. It was indeed better than Batman Forever(which I also enjoyed at the time). More importantly, it gave us a very fun snes game more in tune with the comics! I do hope to one day hear Stallone's thoughts on 2012's Dredd. I would think with how violent and gritty his last two Rambo films were that he might appreciate it.

This podcast was great. Oliver hoping for Nick to start cra**ing all over Judge Dredd, with the latter never actually doing it, and Oliver clinging to the 'but he didn't wear his helmet often enough' and Nick constantly being like 'who cares, the film is badass' and going back to how great the flawed movie is. Loved it.

Me: Duncan Casey is the most chaotic commentary partner for Oliver
Nick: Allow me to introduce myself! LOL

Great commentary guys!

Stallone should have played the Rico character too. They’re supposed to be clones, right? good Stallone, helmet on. Bad Stallone, no helmet. Done.

This movie, though flawed, works better if you’ve never read Judge Dredd. I always liked the look of it, the score by Alan Silvestri, and Armand Assante as the villain.

Dredd did not take anything from the raid.  The raid movie came out first but the Dredd movie started production a year before the raid was released.  It is just a coincidence that they both used the same plot used in a hundred other movies.  Both great movies though. The good guys trapped with bad guys plot they used works really well in a number of situations.

This should be fun 👍🏻

Great video, oh and Judge Dredd had his own magazine since the late eighties so it's not just the four pages every week in 2000ad  of JD

I saw it at the cinema
