There's something else dark I realized about Ernesto de la Cruz! Remember when Miguel says that he's his great-great grandson? Ernesto accepted it without question. Ernesto doesn't deny the idea that he had children and they went on to have Miguel. Since we never see them with him while he was alive, it's highly possible that he did have children at one point and likely abandoned them. He's so big of a narcissist that I can't see him wanting to share a spotlight with his children so he may have tried to keep them a secret.

I'm amazed no one talks about the big purple tiger in the painting behind the couch. Just prowling.

The difference uncle Aaron has to other twist villains is that he actually cares about Miles, it was depressing to watch him get shot😭

another thing I love about Ernesto's twist, on rewatch is that the Marigold he uses doesnt light up when he says "Miguel, I give you my blessing" you dont think about it one, because you're distracted by the realisation that happens at the same time, and two, you just think "oh its delayed" but when you see the other examples its immediate Also dante being the spirit guide. every single time he drags him away from Ernesto and to Hector. its so fun to see

I remember reading somewhere that the best twist villain doesn't make you think "I didn't see that coming" but instead "I SHOULD'VE seen that coming"

The reason characters like Ernesto and Waternoose work as twist villains is because we got to know them. They’re like that one friend who you’ve known for a long time and trust them.

And if they’re not longtime friends, they’re characters who we first meet that have a “mediator” type role. They are the ones who try to keep the peace or is a respected leader everyone looks up to.

Bellwether just comes out of nowhere or is added in the last hour of a movie.

I like when ernesto about to give Miguel's his blessing and the petal does not glow unlike when his great grandmother give him her blessing.

The thing i hate about twist villains is after the reveling
the writers usually rush to their endings and sometimes the villain looks like he isn't the same person before as if they turned into a psycho suddenly
What i loved about waternoose that he is a villan for necessaity though he took terrible decisions
But he show a slight of regret after he banished sulley

I'm going to disagree with you on Firewolf / Boogle since there's tons of foreshadowing to Boogle's reveal as a villain. First off at the beginning when Ollie first meets Boogle he's acting all nice and innocent but then Ollie's dad shows up tries to pull Ollie away and as he does Boogle tries to  eat them.  Then later  Ollie asks him where to find more pods and Boogle says to check near the old dead tree. Which later he says that he can't use the word "dead" when earlier he had no issues with saying it. Then after that much later the Treewolf Pup gets stuck in a tree and Boogle is very quick to just abandon the child because all he wants is the pods to become the Firewolf.

Regarding Hans, he also SMILES SAPPILY at Anna's back when she walks away. HE GOT THROWN INTO THE WATER AND HE SMILES SAPPILY AT HER BACK!!

And then....HIS HORSE TEASES HIM ABOUT IN THE CARTOON ANIMAL FASHION THAT IS WELL KNOWN!!! And he does that vague splash of, "Stop it,"

Like....the Hans reveal made no damn sense. It shouldn't have been a sappy smile, it should have been a calculating one. He should have glared at his horse, Citron according to things, when he started to tease him, reminding him that he doesn't care, he just sees opportunity. Or rolled his eyes, since he seems to genuinely like animals. (He's soothing to Kjekk, aka Anna's horse, when the poor horse comes rushing back in a panic)

There should have been moments during "Love is an Open Door" where Hans is focused out on the KINGDOM, not Anna (he does it like...once as "A place where I belong", thing), and then focuses on Anna where the "love" part is toward the kingdom, and Anna is his OPEN DOOR.

Wesselton was perfectly portrayed as the primary villain and they threw it away FOR HANS!?!?!

Wesselton could have been an amazing twist villain, with a reveal of how he actually helped set this up, but starting long ago with turning the King against magic, etc. LIke, you know Other Mother, etc...IT COULD HAVE BEEN SO GOOD! AND THEY THREW IT ALL AWAY BECAUSE HALF WAY THROUGH THE MOVIE THE DIRECTOR REALIZED 'Let It Go' WAS TOO GOOD OF A SONG TO GIVE TO THE ORIGINAL VILLAIN!!!

(so the comment about 'five minutes before the credits' is very accurate to Hans)

ANYWAY....yeah....Hans one pisses me off the most. Belleweather could have been fixed with giving her emotional weight through the entire thing. What did you think of the twist guy in Zootopia 2?

I think Rourke from Disney's Atlantis the Lost Empire is also a good example of a twist villain with early hints detailing an ulterior motive.

0:34 they're all Pixar villains

10:56 Lotso’s eyes look so sadistically evil in this scene. Man that is good for shadowing

7:39 Purple tiger “prowling” in the back

25:00 I think you missed on the crossbow. He didn't necessarily redirect the bolt. He aimed it at the chandelier hoping it would take Elsa out and then he could in theory tell Anna that he tried to help Elsa, but he failed because at this point he still needed to win her over if he wanted to rule. This is actually the moment I got suspicious of him when I first watched the movie. Not saying Hans was great as a twist villain, but there was at least one hint

Another thing that foreshadows uncle Arron is the conversation between miles and his dad in the car. His dad states he doesn’t want miles ending up like uncle Arron, to which miles reply’s “what’s wrong with uncle Arron?” Only to not get a direct answer. The viewers assume upon his intro that it’s because Arron could be leading miles down a path of vandalism considering since they bond through his tags. In reality, his dad knows a lot more then we ever hear him admit

25:25 it's not that, if someone else kills elsa, Hans cannot be the 'hero' and is just a stranger with no public support to claim the throne.

I first thought that Frozen was going to go the way Enchanted did. Prince Edmund was a great guy, he just wasn't her true love. I figured it would be the same, with Ana realizing that she has a genuine connection with Kristoff instead of Hans.

NGL, the Aaron betrayal actually hurt, like that one was Painful

I kind of liked Boogle in Swapped, he felt dangerous and evil, I don’t think his “There was never Boogle” line was cringy. But your points about the lack of hinting and his one line about why he did what he did really sabotaged his character. If he had gotten angry at one point, or had shared that story earlier, this may have been avoided.
