We genuinely thought this was going to be one of the BEST parts of our entire Europe road trip… and somehow it ended with us unable to pay for our meal, one of us running around a medieval city desperately looking for cash, us losing control of a boat… and then watching another boat SINK right in front of us 😳😂 What was supposed to be a beautiful family day very quickly turned into absolute chaos!
We’re a British family of six travelling through Europe in our motorhome for the first time, with four kids, no fixed route and absolutely no idea what each day is going to throw at us 🚐🌍
After finally escaping the brutal heatwave from our last episode, we head off in the motorhome and accidentally nip into Germany before arriving at one of the most beautiful medieval cities we’ve visited so far.
Honestly, this place completely surprised us ❤️
Ancient city gates, cobbled streets, towers, old waterways and buildings dating back hundreds of years… at times it genuinely felt like we’d walked straight into a fairytale.
Everything was going brilliantly… until we went out for something to eat 😅
When it came time to pay, neither of our cards would work. No Visa. No Mastercard. And we’d already spent the cash we had with us.
So while I stayed behind with all four kids as the “bargaining chip” 😂 Mark disappeared into the city with no phone, desperately trying to find a cash machine so we could actually pay the bill and leave!
Thankfully we eventually escaped 😂 and the next morning continued our motorhome road trip to somewhere we’d been ridiculously excited to see.
A place where the roads disappear, beautiful thatched cottages sit beside the water and boats take over 🚤
Walking through it for the first time honestly didn’t feel real. We kept saying it looked like a fairytale, and it quickly became one of the most incredible places we’ve ever visited.
Obviously we couldn’t come somewhere like this without hiring a boat ourselves…
What could possibly go wrong? 😬
Boat traffic jams, getting lost, wrong turns, several crashes, some VERY questionable manoeuvres and one moment where we genuinely thought we weren’t going to make the turn 😂
And just when we thought the boat drama was finished… we walked past another boat that had actually SUNK 😳
Definitely not how we expected one of our favourite stops of the entire trip to end!
Thanks so much for following our family adventure through Europe ❤️ We honestly appreciate every view, like and comment, and we love hearing where everyone is watching from.
