Something tells me both of you will love the movie PRIDE. A true story about how the Welsh miners striking during Thatcher's reign of neo-liberal, capitalist terror that impoverished the working class were supported by a group of gay and lesbian activists. It has the same heartwarming, intelligent British humour and a strong message about worker solidarity and intersectionality. And it stars some heavyweights as well, like Andrew Scott, Bill Nighy and Imelda Staunton.

Kinky Boots is really an economic story more than anything else. It’s about a struggling factory, jobs on the line, adapting to a changing market and finding a new way to survive. The message is simple: economies aren’t just about numbers—they’re about workers, businesses, innovation and whether people can keep their livelihoods. The boots are just the colourful packaging around a very real economic story.

If you guys react to TV shows, you should try Sugar Rush. It's a teen comedy drama from the UK about a girl with a crush on her best friend (and also contains a baby Andrew Garfield). I say this because the actress who plays Lauren in this film plays a character that runs a sex shop in Brighton

I'm glad you liked the film. I like it better than the musical, but maybe that's because I saw it before there was a musical.
In my opinion, the friendship between Lola/Simone and Charlie has a similar structure to the one used for writing romance. That fight between them before Lola came in to save the day at the end is reminiscent of phases 3 and 4 of the outline proposed by Gwen Hayes in Romancing the Beat.
It's a different kind of rom-com... a friend-com!

How is this literally the only reaction to the Kinky Boots movie on YouTube?!?! Sucks for everybody else, I guess, because this is a fantastic reaction and impossible to compete with!

This is great movie and I love it ... but the stage show and musical is SO much more magical!  This is like the Le Mis movie that they did where they cut all the musical numbers out of the performance ... so we get the drama, but the performances of the SHOW - the songs (!) is what kicks this show up into the stratosphere as a personal favorite of mine (seen it on stage TWICE and own this on DVD ... purchased the filmed stage performance (musical) version on Amazon to rewatch at my leisure whenever I feel the need to get uplifted)

Please watch the musical of Kinky Boots.  It is so good!  Plus, Cyndi Lauper won the Tony for best score, making her the first woman to do that!

I didn’t hear you mention that this was based on a true story.  This factory existed in the midlands and turned into the Kinky Boot factory.  One of the things I would like you guys to learn is that Drag through time and location has changed a lot, and has almost become homogenised to “whatever Ru Paul would approve of”.  Ru Paul in her early years would not even get a slot on Ru Paul’s Drag Race.
The scene where Charlie goes off at Lola for being out at an expensive restaurant has multiple factors leading to the explosion:-
1) Charlie just found out his fiancé is cheating on him so he is in his feels;
2) Charlie obviously invited Simon to the dinner not Lola, and they didn’t think to check if it was okay to go as Lola or even to give a heads up about it, “a man in a frock in Northampton, even if they are not staring they are staring”
3) Charlie is hugely stressed about the Milan Show (heightened feels).
When you did drag, and a straight work colleague asked you (in your Male Persona) to meet up to discuss work plans would you automatically think it was okay to go to the restaurant/bar in drag?
