Question for the queers! Were you out in high school?

In the book, Cal (twink with the frosted tips) is pretty much the only person Simon suspects as Blue (bc of his blue eyes). Cal comes out as bi and I think he asks Simon out, but Simon only wants Blue

Simon and Bram have also been crushing on each other for years but assuming that the other is straight. Simon literally calls him Cute Bram Greenfeld and gushes about his soccer calves all the time in his mind. The reveal of Blue is also a lot more private and there's no crowd around when they meet and later have their first kiss. Oh and Bram and Garett are around a lot more since they're Nick's soccer friends. So they have a lot more characterization and Simon is at least somewhat close with them as friends of his friend

this movie crawled so heartstopper could run a marathon😂

As someone who was outed in high school, this movie captured how isolating it is after it happens. Even if people mean well, nobody feels safe.

Not a small town, filmed and set in Atlanta.

I think you guys have forgotten that the Lion King is also a broadway musical which is what she is probably referencing.

Even though it’s in Atlanta, a big city, as someone who lives in a big city, Houston, y’all are correct, there are suburbs that feel like a small town, especially when kids are zoned to a specific high school. They all live in the same neighborhood and know each other.

Silently takes my BA in psychology off the wall as I watched the Therapist comments. 😂

I don't think the dad is disappointed when Nick comes out, I think he just genuinely doesn't know how to react. In his head he's probably thinking "Okay, just show him that nothing's changed, act normal, crack a joke" and then when he gets called out he's like "Oh, the jokes are a problem, I'm fucking this up, I'm letting him down, I don't know what I'm supposed to do"

Simon's friends are the worst. Didn't even have his back when he was being bullied.

Drew Starkey and Miles Heiser have small roles in this film, and have gone on to do more gay roles.  My husband used to be slightly obsessed with this film, and we ended up adding a layover in Atlanta during our vacation in 2018 so we could visit the filming locations.

As always, y’all are a heap of fun

First time watching, great reaction ❤

Maybe this is just the schools I’ve been too, but there’s like a group of kids that run an instagram account at the high school I went to, and it’s just them calling people out. It’s entertaining to me. (I went to a big high school, and I was extremely quiet and an undiagnosed autistic queer kid, so I easily went under the radar, thank god)

when the teacher says she was an extra in the lion king, she's probably talking about the stage production, tho that's still not the correct terminology😅

0:43 yes

Such a good movie. Fun reaction  as usual.

Martin's bluish joke makes it clear that Blue is Bram, but only after the fact.

They've had way more than 15 emails, especially since seasons have changed throughout this movie.
