After Oktoberfest you might want to WALK a bit ... to "undo the damage" ... and that's where the "Englische Garten" comes in, with the standing wave for surfing ...

Enjoy your Trip!! So happy for you🎉

Get gingerbread hearts with your kids' names piped in icing on site as (relatively) cheap souvenirs. 🙂 Pretty sure at least one of the vendors will do them to order.

As a Northern German, I’d say "run while you still can"... otherwise... don't underestimate the beer. Oktoberfest beer is relatively strong ;) Have fun, and never forget: 66% of Germans have never been to Oktoberfest, and a huge portion of them wouldn't go even if it were free ;)

1) While you're here, buy some decent flour for your daughter to make Spätzle (be sure to declare it at customs!). US flour has a different grind and protein content.
2) If you check out a supermarket... pick up some chocolate to taste-test at home.
3) Magenbrot – diamond-shaped gingerbread-style pastries with a thin sugar or cocoa glaze and spices that are gentle on the stomach, such as cloves, cinnamon, star anise, cardamom, and nutmeg.

There are a total of 38 festival tents, including 17 large ones. The large tents have a combined capacity of approximately 120,000 standing and seated visitors.

Funfact: Kaiserschmarrn is an Austrian dish that came up when the real dish got ruinied but they served it anyways under this name. This is where the name - translated "emperors mess" - comes from.

I am from Munich. If you like a nice walk and a bit of culture don’t miss castle Nymphenburg. It is only 15 min from the city center by tram. Enjoy your stay!

The guy heavily mispronounced the name of almost every single dish. Don't trust his pronunciation!

What about the metre-long bratwursts? At Munich Oktoberfest, only the big 6 Munich breweries are represented. Pretty much every town and village in the area has its own small breweries, usually of higher quality, but you need to visit the local town Fests and sample them.

the first picture of the Käsespätzle was not Käsespätzle, it was Obazda - it's Camembert mixed with butter and Paprikapulver and more

I recommend the Deutsches Museum - the transport and aviation displays are interesting! You can also see Munich from a Zeppelin airship or visit the Munich Residence castle.

Hacker is the tent to go for! Hope you have a fun time here in Munich! 😁
Can't wait to hear your impressions 😃

One thing to remember when you visit the Oktoberfest is that they mostly use the Austrian nominclature for food (apart from the Schweinshaxe, which is called Stelze in Austria), not the otherwise in germany used names for food.

It's funny you say about the Mexicans eating whole fish, because just yesterday I came across a tiktok of a Mexican guy trying Octoberfest and he was ALL about the whole fish. Loved it. Also, FYI, we do have stuffing in Europe but for Christmas. And we both put it inside the turkey and also make it on the side (I prefer it on the side so you get the crispy bits, but that's just me).
