i personally want the super sass of the original villagers back and even expanded on. Give them all more life than just "Hi I'm your best friend number 32". And frankly I'd love if they added more to explore outside of your main town. AND BRING BACK THE TRAIN.

The only unique reaction I remember from my villagrs was when Raymond told me hes sad that Marshal moved away and will miss him (they were besties)

I want more stuff to do. The retro games were nice, but they came at the very end and required an NSO membership, something that lets you play ALL the games instead of just a select few.
Gimme special mini-games like New Leaf.

I never really understood this argument tbh. New horizons has more involved events, more museum completions, crafting adds lifesim elements, ingredient collection, nook miles points encouraging daily gameplay, probably the most involved bell grind with ghe most options, villagers that interact and do way more. The game has the largest dialogue, they changed the tree so you get the most varied dialogue, and the diys incentivize so much more exploration and interaction. And also villagers can interact with eachother more in this game than they ever had, and even small things like being able to wear hats etc.

I honestly think this opinion comes from mostly people who “cheat” nook miles tickets, bells, catalogs through treasure islands haha

Tomodatchi Life gives me hope they’ll bring more life & personality back into villagers in the next AC game.

I’d be okay with them taking away terraforming in exchange for that. I like the idea of us decorating an island without customizing rivers and cliffs. It’s a fun challenge! As long as we had a larger variety of island layouts.

That's also something i dislike about the new Tomodachi Life for Switch. That the decorating is so much more in the foreground, while there's less things to do (no concert hall, less minigames, etc)

1:26 The diffrence here between NH and NL, is that in NL villagers would always ask for your consent first. They only enter your home randomly when you have high friendship with them

Breaking tools is unfortunately a trope that became all too common for Nintendo and negatively indulged by an unfortunate big portion of the fanbase. I really think that in ACNH this is something that should have never been in place to begin with. In a such relaxing inducing experience like this game the last thing I would want to think about is the angst of being in the other half of my island and having my net to poof-away from my hands when I see a new insect that I have never collected right in front of me.

Minecraft as well became more of a decorating sim than a survival game. It seems to be a trend

It must be so difficult to think of video topics after so many years of little to no new content. Massive respect to you Kora!

Its not that the older games had that much more life sim/community sim features, its that NH did not EXPAND upon those features. I like decorating, but I don't want to decorate a whole island. I want to live in a town and feel like just another villager in the community.

People are allowed to dislike ACNH and people are also allowed to be wrong

I wish the villagers would give us more quests / tasks to do. I’ve been working towards completing smile isle and have to repeatedly talk to a villager about 10 times to have any chance of a request. Some of the better dialogue is also hidden behind having to repeatedly talk to them

I really want Tortimer's island back! The minigames were so fun, I loved whacking that acorn on a motor. 😂

The only thing I really want in the next game would be to go from island to island for villager hunting if they bring it back because going back to the airport is fine but it gets repetitive and drains me from finishing a hunt

I think tera forming is the one thing I dislike the most, it's too much. Instead im hoping we can choose where our town is generally located, I miss the mountain town feel of the first few games, never was a fan of the main town being on an island, but for those who vibe with it they would have the option.

I oddly enough, miss the odd festivals/holidays and events of wild world. It was like I was exploring a town with its own people, traditions and ways of doing things. A little off beat in a good way

I feel it's not just the creativity missing, but personality too.
Something I really enjoyed in older titles was slowly learning the backstories of characters. The Able Sisters, Tom Nook, The Post Office. Everyone had thier own story to tell. New Horizons that's stripped back and the characters now just feel like menus for the shops and features. Orville and Wilbur don't get any development which is a shame. You can get little glimpses of thier personality for sure and maybe a tidbit when they're at the Roost. But come on!! I want to be surprised and find them somewhere unexpected, maybe by the beach at night feeling reflective, touring the museum. If you're going to put new characters in then develop them!

The only characters I feel got decent development were Lottie, Wardell and Nico in Happy Home Paradise where there was a story of sorts. More of that please! Quest lines for characters, give them arcs!

Sorry for getting a bit ranty. 😅

i’ve been playing this series since population growing, and i feel like new horizons is almost a DREAM game for my younger self. If they were able to tweak the dialogue, I think it would genuinely be perfect. I was a shy kid, and would spend hours “talking” to the villagers in older games, it really shaped my personality and sense of humour. Also I totally agree with you, the dialogue in new leaf was also subpar

1:58  that’s still there but it’s as thought bubbles

Fun fact not every thought bubble 💭 from a villager means they're moving away, you could get stuff, sell stuff, get invited to their houses or vice versa, Get a Treaure hunt, get FREE stuff, even just play a Game
