Henlo!! I noticed a couple of comments asking about the Ash vs Yugi Death Battle react so I thought I'd mention that it'll be up in the next few days/weeks! I uploaded this one in advance since we caught it early but I'll push the upload for Ash vs Yugi up so it's hopefully not too long a wait🫡Thank you for looking forward to it!!

For Cell liking Kermit, DevilArtemis, the lead animator for the episode (in addition to voicing both Cell and Metal Sonic) has a long-running series on his channel called "Cell vs" where he interacts with random characters. Kermit the Frog is his partner and usually gets Cell into trouble. This is also the last episode DA is animating for Death Battle.

Love how even if she doesn't fully understand everything, she still gets hyped.

we need more death battle reactions even from the fully blind perspective (as in not knowing anything about any of the characters at all) seeing you get hyped while watching the fight was truly adorable

People tend to forget that having cute animal characters doesn't mean the Sonic world isn't ABSOLUTELY freaking busted for power scaling.

14:46 You're correct; "chi" is the Chinese term, "ki" is the Japanese term.

19:00 In truth, "Android" is an oversimplification by the US official translators for both the manga and the anime; the Japanese term actually translates to "Artificial Human", and is much more appropriate for the Dragon Ball usage, as the characters designated by this term range from true androids (i.e. mechanical robots, such as #16), to mostly human cyborgs (e.g. #17 and #18), to "organic brain in a robotic body"-type cyborgs (e.g. Dr. Gero after he turned himself into #20), and even fully biological constructs like Cell. Cell in particular is special not only because he's fully biological, but also because his genome incorporates key genetic sequences from most of the Z Fighters and some of their then recent foes (Freeza and King Cold), which grants him his absurd potential for great power and also genetic memory of many ki attacks that his "parents" use.

45:51 Notice how the music radically changes right after this moment. This is actually meaningful: The previous segment was mostly dominated by a rendition of Cell's theme song, and only temporarily offset by Metal Sonic's theme when he went Metal Overlord. Now, having successfully scanned Cell and copied his biodata, the tide of battle has shifted permanently in Metal's favor; Cell from her on out is done for, and the music shows this by becoming dominated by Metal's theme henceforth. Oh, and also... Metal saying "I know everything about you" at 46:08? That's not hyperbolic or allegorical; he now has access to the same deep-level genetic memory that Cell benefits from... which includes intimate knowledge of Cell's weakness and thus how to permakill him.

47:26 Notice the wire-frame visual on Metal's left arm? It's being reconstructed... which indicates that Metal suffered serious damage or even was "killed" by Super-Perfect Cell's Kamehameha, only to utilize the same superfast regeneration and even the Saiyan-based Zenkai boost that Cell is capable of.

48:36 Miya, it says something when most if not all of the debunk videos made so far of this episode don't dispute the outcome, they just disagree with the analysis denying Metal the advantage in speed. Yes, they think that the matchup should've been even more of a stomp.

"I'll Crush you"!

Cell doesn't eat people...

He DRiNKS people.

Chi and Ki are essentially the same thing, life energy transmitted from the universe or heaven, carried by sunlight, air and water. The main difference is Chi is Chinese and Ki is Japanese.

6:14 For clarification, the Hetap thing is an in-joke on TFS’ Dragonball Z Abridged series, where Hetap was a drink company that sponsored the Cell Games, and the Kermit bit is an in-joke with the animator on this Death Battle, DevilArtemis, who makes videos with Cell and Kermit together.

If I drank every time you said "question mark", I would be dead within minutes.

Miya so far is the only reactor I've seen to actually read the small tabs on the top right corners for extra info. Kinda cool tbh

My boy out there making me PROUD! You just can't beat this original~

46:38 I gotta love the abridged series for making that move popular

16:59 - Saiyans are monkey aliens, the concept was introduced at the very start of Z and stuck around as a major staple because Goku is one of them.

30:01 Accurately deduced the winner and key winning factor

0:26 Stutter of doom and despair.

45:34 Fun fact: You can actually see Cell's different forms in the shadow of the flames. Moro isls truly the GOAT! 😂

One more contribution to the Dragon Ball lore side. There’s actually two Son Gohans in the series. The one you’ve been hearing about is the second one, Goku’s first son. He’s named after Goku’s adoptive grandfather, whom he loves and cherishes dearly. The younger Gohan is reserved, anxious, and studious, due to the influence of Goku’s wife Chi-Chi, in contrast to Goku being a fight-happy and sometimes tactless extrovert from being alone in the wilderness for most of his early childhood. Gohan is more an intellectual and at times hesitant to fight, but he’s got immense potential gated by his cool temper. The moment Gohan gets pissed is the moment someone ends up with their face in the dirt. At best.

As for the older Son Gohan, Goku always thinks back on his grandfather fondly and frequently covets the 4-Star Dragon Ball like a family heirloom because Gohan had it when he originally passed away, long before Goku and friends started hunting for all seven like it’s their day job. Anyways, Gohan found Goku as a baby and he was… fussy, to downplay it. At least until Goku fought his way out of Gohan’s hold, fell off a rope bridge, and conked his head on a rock. From there, Goku mellowed way out and had been inseparable from Gohan ever since. Give or take a couple incidents involving the full moon. Wonder what those were about.

One thing about Normal/Neo Metal Sonic, even tho he is extremely strong, he usually gets beaten because the main cast teams up on him, shown in Sonic Heroes, Knuckles Chaotix and the IDW comics.
