Didn't expect a Chel reaction to Mikey on my bingo card, this gon b gud

Yeah... once you pierce the veil on the logistics of the Pokemon world, it's dang terrifying. And they didn't even mention the creepy PEOPLE of the games, like the Hex girl in Kalos, or the ghost girl in Black2/White2

Also, I'm not currently eating, I'm on a fast

I'm happy to see one of the videos i suggested. Just wish I had seen it live. Love you content and keep doing a great job.

Yeah no wonder in the games, Professor Oak says this: Hey! Wait! Don't go out! It's unsafe! Wild Pokémon live in tall grass! You need your own Pokémon for your protection. I know! Here, come with me!"

Pocket >monsters<

Chelzor would totally be a ghost type "trainer" because the ghost types love scaring her and won't leave her alone. That and gloomy and depressive people often fit the vibe of ghost type trainers

Chelzor is a creature of THE SKY! GO TEAM SKY!🦅

The anime fits gengar wanting a friend. One literally made Ash and Pikachu temporarily ghosts. Although Ash convinced the gengar line in the episode that he and Pikachu wanted to not be ghosts anymore. Gengar actually listened.

Episode name: E23. The The Tower of Terror.

My favorite entry belongs to Hattrem: "No matter who you are, if you bring strong emotions near this Pokémon, it will silence you violently."

You could be it's trainer, excited that you won a tough battle. However, because you're real happy, it turns around and starts beating the crap out of you.

Jumpscare Mandjtv reaction! Thought this was from one of my Pokemon specific reactors at first.

This shit is why I believe the Adventures Manga is a more accurate depiction of the Pokemon world than the anime series or the mainline games.

I love seeing people who are unfamiliar with Pokemon react to the creepy Pokemon dex entrees

According to the Pokedex as well:
Me chillin' in the pool with a Swablu that became my hat, an Alolan Muk that gladly gets rid of my trash, and a Fidough that gives me infinite bread

Mikey!!!!! Hopefully she’ll learn about the glory of… TEAM SKY!!!!

Idk what Chelzor's house is made of, but there is no house I know of that could stop a Pokemon from entering it anyway they see fit.
That said, I LOVE the thought of Chelzor destroying the fucked up Pokemon in similar fashion to Castlevania Belmonts killing creatures of the night

Dude. I just had a thought. Pokemon horror stories would be amazing.

These entries are what make me wish we got a darker, grittier Pokémon anime. The complete opposite of what airs today. Show me humans eating Miltank burgers and steaks!

For clarity on Pokedex entries, they aren't hard facts, they're effectively flavor text.  The original premise of the Pokedex was that we, they player, were helping Samuel Oak compile notes and data about the different species.  Subsequent games kind of took this approach and made it implicit, even without making the player character the implicit note taker, often just reusing existing notes and entries.  But entries are a combination of legitimate observations, assumptions and hearsay, and local legend.  This is how you have entries for Legendaries that have never been studied or properly observed before, in the same place that you have entries citing pokemon that can "knock down mountains" and "have body temperatures hotter than the surface of the sun".

So, the Aegislash example in the beginning, for example, was a reference to a local legend of an ancient Aegislash who was attributed to be the cause of death to its king.  That's not a species level observation beyond complicit entries made for Honedge and Doublade, Aegislash's immature forms, which cite that when they wrap their cloth around a living organism, they siphon the life from their victim.  Likewise, it's observed that "If a spoink stops bouncing, its heart stops", which is something that a child might hear and latch onto, but it makes more physiological sense that a spoink's tail bounces in time to its heartbeat, and if the tail stops moving, then it's likely that the heart has already stopped beating.

Cubone is a very notable example of this fallacy.  It's said that the helmet of a Cubone is its mother's skull, but statistically speaking, this doesn't make sense, as it would mean that with each passing generation, each female could only have one offspring to inherit her skull.  The population would dwindle and go extinct very quickly if that was truly the case.  However, if you look into Marowak's lore, it's actually known as the Bone Keeper Pokemon, prone to collection and hoarding bones.  Not only that, but if you look at the actual physical development of the species, cubone and marowak are reptilian, and a marowak's head is fully encased in bone.  Well, that implies that as a marowak physically grows, it must occasionally molt its helmet, which would match up very well with its habit of collecting bones, and the need for young cubone, who are actively growing quickly, to need protection for their head.  If, rather than wearing the literal skull of its mother, a cubone is left with a molt of her helmet that it instinctively wears until its mature enough for the skin on its head to start calcifying on its own, then you have a plausible answer for an impossible assumption.

Ultimately, Pokedex entries are flavor text with some hints of lore and worldbuilding.  They're meant to be taken with some salt, and discretion is needed to actually get the most out of them.  The authors aren't infallible authorities, they're kids using what they can access to take short notes.  There are stories and lore that can be told, these are just the breadcrumbs that need to be deciphered.

An MandJTV video? A surprise, but a welcome one

And yeah, Pokémon lore can be wild and sometimes it can get crazier

Wait until you learn about the magma snail that has a body temperature that's 10,000 degrees hotter than the surface of our sun. Or how a 2 foot tall pink cat can produce offspring with a 50 foot tall whale

If you enjoyed this you might also enjoy the Pokemon creepypasta iceberg video. Thanks for another fun reaction!
