Seriously eXo... You never cease to amaze. You are a master of Game Preservation. It´s always a joy to see every project is not just a collection of old games but a whole Museum. I already fueled up my torrent client.
I remember late 80s, as a teenager, no internet, no car in the family, I went with public transport from rural town to Brussels, just to look into the hint books. W.H. Smith was the only press shop that sold (expensive) hint books. It was almost an hour drive one way. Then trying to remember some hints, no cameras or mobile phones, go back home and then hopefully remember a few of them to continue my adventure game 😅
As if my backlog isn't big enough already. Thanks for all the hard work for putting this collection together so that future generations can enjoy these amazing games.
Just found your projects and I had to start with this one, brings back so many memories. Maybe now I can finally complete Wonderland, I haven't been able to play it in over 30 years. Big thanks!
Many hours of sleep lost to IF. Id be stuck for weeks in a spot until finally I typed "go up"!!! This opened up an entirely new area to move around in. Crawled into bed at 4:00 AM and up at 7:00 AM to go to work.
Dude, thank you for the history lesson here. Amazing stuff, these games obviously led to the development of MUDS and in turn... Everquest, the first 3D MUD. Knowing they started as Extraction style games gives me a few interesting ideas. Great work, much appreciated!
I'm old enough to have played Collosal Cave adventure on a mainframe at my college. I love these old style adventures(or if as you call them) thank you thank you....... to me this is even better than ExoDos.
Hello there. First of all thank you and everyone who helps on the eXo projects. They are unbelievable and one of the best things to happen in recent gaming history (no kidding). I have a question though:
I understand that the focus is on preserving each and every game and some related relevand media; but did you ever consider making it into a fully bootable system similar to Batocera for example? (or providing this as an option)
One thing that could be doable is to just make a barebones bootable Linux image themed with eXo art, and shortcuts to each project's contents. Then the user could simply flash the image, boot it up, and manually copy the full folders of each eXo project to the user partition. And the shortcuts would work.
Sorry if I am talking nonsense, I am not really an expert on any of this - but still thought that this could be nice.
