Mate, putting your knowledge out there for free is tremendous. Thank you so much.

Guy reads one second worth of screen time “why isn’t there any conflict yet?”😂

Love these kind of videos where you go over people scripts. Instantly subscribed. 🍻

Given that my writing background is limited to broadcast marketing and advertising, I call your helpful videos "Screenwriting for Dummies," which is a compliment!  I appreciate your direct, honest approach and how you cut through nonsense.

Thanks for the notes Jacob — you’re the best!

This info is incredibly helpful. I definitely see some of the things in my script I'll revisit and clean up.

I see that you truly care for you students and their work. That’s what made me subscribe. Thanks Jacob

I'm writing my first and maybe only screenplay. This was helpful. Subbed

Thank you Jacob!  Very informative.  I try to begin with a strong opening image.  I also try to ease the reader into the story using images and actions rather than going straight to dialogue.

I love your knowledge and constructive critiques with alternative examples to help the writer understand what is needed and what is unnecessary.  Thank you.

Immensely helpful, Jacob - heading these scriptwriting problems off at the pass!

This is incredible free knowledge. Thank you

I agree- I got the regal App thing. I got quite a bit every week. I seldom stay.. One the movie theater still has the air condition on. two the film doesn't suck you in.. I like a pre story or a quick get your feet wet story.. Not the slow build- stuff.

I appreciate observing your evaluation process.

In the first script,  your comments made me curious. If one is writing sci-fi and have the need to write a lot of description, how would one get around that if it's a no-no? In the second script, gotta say I took it that someone named Collin was using the name Sam. I got it. Didn't bother me. It made me anticipate the reason why he was doing that. In the third script, would it have been appropriate to just write some of Jose's dialogue in Spanish? Also "CONT'D" is inserted automatically in Final Draft. Guess I should figure out how to turn that off sometimes. I didn't like how it looked here either.

that's awesome i call it the "falcon" view when looking at music

Can somebody share the most reliable screenwriting software available absolutely free.

Rate my opening scene please.

How about do a Yellowstone script read through. Cole rides up on horse, Beth smiles leaning over fence, cows circle in background. You can feel the tension there right its got horses and cows and a fence. It's explosive really you just don't know what's about to happen. But someone thought it was great, they made four shows about the same thing. If it was all about something happening on page one none of that would've gone anywhere.

I have  a question! What if it is like Reacher where it literally starts off with a guy dying and its mysterious. It's strategically not giving the reader detail. However, is that not considered conflict or even taken account as the official beginning due to the protagonist not being introduced?
