Something I noticed after the episode stuck on a planet with Zeb, Kallus comes back to the ISB building and no one even noticed he was gone, Realized they didn’t care about him.

"Princess Leia with her liberal arts degree..." Priceless.

“What is better – to be born good, or to overcome your evil nature through great effort?” Paarthurnax, elder scrolls V: Skyrim

How do you not quote Kallus' best line."The day I betrayed you is the day I stoped betraying myself."

Only two comments in the whole video about Kallas’s mutton chops? I applaud your self control.

Even a villain can slowly turn into a hero.

Agent Kallus is such an Underrated character.
Also considering how „kinda rare“ redemption are in Star Wars(mainly referring to Imperials), and kallus is definitively a well executed one

I'll say again. It's ironic that the only Jedi teachings to survive the purge in the public eye is Anakins insurgency techniques.

You either die a villain or live long enough to see yourself become a hero

(Edited for grammar) Upon seeing the title and the thumbnail, I am SO GLAD to see you are covering Kallus.
It is easy to be born knowing good from evil and doing good your whole life, even when you suffer for it. When you're born with a depraved heart, or when your morality is ground down under indoctrination and a simple lack of giving a thought to anyone but yourself and your close circle... it's much harder, especially when you've been evil your entire life. When you have to confront your past, those you have hurt, or the simple reality of the world you helped create. Suddenly, you're starting from so far behind. Even if you blow up a death star, it doesn't matter when you've tortured and murdered kids.

For example, imagine if Darth Vader blew up the death star at Yavin. Had a heel-face turn and took out the main port himself. How would the galaxy see him? Well, in legends, despite decades of work by Luke, even after a huge image-rewrite ('Anakin was duped and deceived by the emperor') people didn't care to hear it. Vader could have joined the rebellion (hah maybe) and spent his entire last few decades working to erase the sith, the empire, and all evil from the galaxy... and everyone is going to ask "Where you when Alderaan was blown up? That's right, watching from the bridge."

Kallus had to accept that he'd die for a cause that hated him, or at best live in a galaxy that would never forgive him. He'd be stuck living in the outskirts of society, but he was willing to do that. It doesn't make up for what he did in the past, but what it does is let him try to re-write his future, and help others turn back before going as far down the path as he did.

For Luke, it was easy: He had to face the dark a couple times, be tested, and emerge with his white wings. For Kallus, it's a hard choice, knowing he'll never get to enjoy (and maybe not even live to see) the future he's making. For Vader, it was an impossible one until there was no other (Padme's last legacy vs Palpatine's ego).

For billions of stormtroopers, there's just the uncomfortable reality of having to either de-indoctrinate themselves, or live out the rest of their days in prison like yet-to-be-defused munitions. They didn't get a chance to redeem themselves, those who were captured instead of killed. They have to serve time, knowing everything they ever did amounted to nothing... and they STILL have to start over from scratch if they want to be 'good'.

The empire broke and used everyone, just like all authoritarian regimes do. Those who help it rise are not immune to being caught in the gears. It's a valuable lesson to learn: Turn back from evil before it defines who you are. But if you've already gone down the path, have the balls to suffer as much as you inflicted to stop the cycle from perpetuating.

"All that is required for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing" is true enough, but I'd also argue that "All that is required for the fall of evil is that they turn towards the light."

Hot take: Agent Kallus has the best redemption arc in all the Star Wars.

One of my favorite lessons is that Hurt People Hurt People.

Alan, ask Kongo out to brunch, DO IT!

In my opinion it’s either Cassian or Kallus after all both put everything on the line it’s just that one made it out alive and the other didn’t

I loved the ending of Rebels where Zeb brought him to the new Lasat capital. Finished his character arc with the ultimate sign of forgiveness.

By the light of Lothal’s moons

Well to be fair, by the time of A New Hope, it's not a Rebellion anymore, it's a Civil War. The people who started it were the disenfranchised, but then the politicians with money and guns showed up. It became the Senate vs the Emperor.

Rebels was the starwars of my childhood, and I’m only now realizing how much Agent Kallus shaped my view of heroism

Agent Kallus is a great Star Wars character🔥

12:22 This is actually why one of my favorite exposures to Legends is the Battlefront PSP game, Renegade Squadron, about the titular elite commando squadron organized by Han specifically made of pirates, smugglers, mercs, and other criminals who were willing to throw their lot with the Alliance.
Maybe that's nostalgia for that game talking, but I liked that aspect that Han himself realized that these "headquarters unit" was nowhere near enough, and they needed those like him in the Alliance to get the job done.
