"A plea of innocence is guilty of wasting my time"

"Their SIN OF EXISTENCE", is just the hardest line ever like you said and have loved SIsters ever since that badass quote.

This is still a fun video but I think his re-explained ones from this year are a little bit better. I also highly recommend Arbitor Ian. He doesn't have Bricky's comedic presentation, but he's still very engaging to listen to and offers much deeper dives into factions, events, timelines, and all that.

So glad people are getting interested in this universe and are appreciating it for what it is

18:14 Every psycher ever after learning about She-Who-Thirsts...

The Claymore Manga has one of the most satisfying endings of any manga I have come across. It finished telling the story for the main characters and many of the others. Things that took place in Vol 3 or 4 came back in the final chapters of vol 27.

There was a prequel that told a story involving Teresa. A guy got permission from the author to translate it to English.

And, light spoiler...

I love how while characters could destroy the terrain around them, there was only a single time a character destroyed the ground purely by releasing their power. It lands hard, when not every character can do it (looking at you Dragon Ball).

The emperor does or did have an origin story but Games Workshop's policy now is to have him be a mystery man. Maybe they'll change their mind at some point, in 40k everything is canon not everything is true.

The first human psykers were shamans who could pass through the warp when they d13d and be reincarnated but this grew increasingly unreliable as chaos grew. Foreseeing the threat of the chaos gods they made a plan, they all p01soned themselves at the same time and were all reborn into the same body. The emperor then guided humanity from the shadows before revealing himself when he deemed it was time to lead.

58:40 if custodians are sent to a battle it will automatically be recorded as a victory before they even arrive.
And you should look up the custodes blood games. It’s wild

12:00 a good way to visualize psykers is Jean Grey from xmen. Powerful psychic who taps into a powerful cosmic force-which occasionally makes her go mad, possesses her and destroys everything around her.

yoooo i did not expect the Claymore mention, you've got good taste bro!

"We are not wearing signs of our faith. WE ARE - signs of our FAITH"

1:11:04 the weird thing about the Inquisition quote is that, at least when it comes to demons/chaos, it’s very true, often times you’ll have a character with genuinely pure intentions unwittingly being used like a puppet to further some chaos goal, so yes you might actually be innocent but that doesn’t prove you weren’t helping chaos

Shout out for the Claymore mention! Sisters of Battle go hard, and that comparison is a fun one! Good catch.

15:14 yes this was the Emperor's last plan. Its worse than torture but he does it for humanity. Also now in current lore The Emperor is awaking again, He has become alot more psychicly active.

Thank you for this 40k content!
Btw
As other comments say. This video is fun but bricky said they were incomplete and outdated and made two new ones called "re-explained" those are much more accurate if you are interested.

Highly recommend checking out the new versions of these videos instead of the outdated ones. Bricky includes a lot more information about each faction as well as correcting things he got wrong in these old versions.

1:01:47  Regarding the Sisters of Silence and "Blanks", another term for them in-world is "Nulls". I was first introduced to the concept through a character in the Eisenhorn trilogy of novels, a woman named "Alizebeth Bequin", who is a null. It's a fascinating concept, James. It's like, the opposite of a soul. It's like their spirit is a black hole, at no fault of their own. It's so fucking tragic. A blank, or null, are literally the hardest, most real and gutteral feeling of "the vibes are off".

There is a separate and fantastic trilogy (well, 3rd book hasn't come out yet) for that aforementioned Bequin, as the main character. She has to wear a cuff, that when active, "dampens her null" so that she can actually be around other people. Which means she has to strategically choose when to turn off the cuff, and when she does, it affects *everybody* around. It's like, if you think about the idea of a gut feeling when something terrible is about to happen? An inexplicable sense of dread? That thing you can't explain that tells you "do not go any further" and "in fact, you should leave. NOW."  that feeling? Turn that up a few more notches, and that's probably somewhat close to what it feels like to be near a blank. Animals, xenos, humans, etc. Basically anything or anyone that feels struggles to feel okay around a null, and it's actually painful to psykers. It's a black hole in the warp, a black hole of your heart, mind, and emotion. It's so fucking tragic, man. These women can barely know friendship (outside of other Blanks), let alone any kind of love.

People can't stand to be around you, and they don't know why - well, emotionally, at least. People are aware of what Blanks are intellectually, but it's very difficult to fight that instinctual repulsion that they emanate. It's a fascinating concept in the world of 40k, and the tragic humanity of the condition is so ironic because it feels so inhuman. Which makes them so tragic, to me. Because they are human. Blanks/Nulls are humans, they just have this condition that basically ruins so much of what it means to be human from our perspective. So bad that the "absence" of a soul becomes a tangible, repulsive thickness of the air around them that makes it almost completely intolerable to your spirit to be around them. Ugh. I love them.

Also, in the Bequin trilogy of novels (written by Dan Abnett - again, 3rd isn't out yet) in audiobook format, the voice narrator Helen Keeley is magnificent as Alizebeth Bequin. She absolutely brings her to life, and I've followed her trail across many other books outside of 40k since she gave us Bequin's voice.

30:00 the white castle joke didn't land but the gist is that: "nobody is that black".

All I need to say is watch a video called EPIK Voice Acting: Echoes of Eternity | Speech of Sanguinius by EPIKUS and you will understand the importance of the blood angels and their sacrifice in 40k. Even if it means damnation through his death he knows hope will survive  even if they must go through insurmountable odds because they are his sons. Also vulkan is a real one too lol
