It’s actually really funny that the emperor is worshiped as a God because that dude was a turbo atheist. He even went so far as to remove all traces of religion in his Empire.

40k is the universe the fans love but would never want to live in 😂

Just to clarify: the whole "Innocence proves nothing" thing from the Inquisition doesn't mean that they ignore evidence and decide things on a whim (even if frankly they could).
It's more their way to say "Just because you didn't mean to be a threat to humanity, doesn't mean you aren't one".

The emperor was against religion and believed in man's own strength. That's he meant when he said the emperor being seen as a god is the last thing he would have wanted.

The Sisters of Battle don't all have white hair, but many dye their hair white to remember Dominica, their founding Sister. They were originally a cult called Daughters of the Emperor.  A man named Goge Vandire recruited them as the church's army. Goge renamed them to Brides of the Emperor, and was a giant perv. He used his power to consolidate even more power and almost had control of the entire Imperium of Man. Then one day, Dominica had an audience with the Emperor. No one knows what happened in there, but when she came out her black hair had turned all white and she marched straight to Goge's chambers and killed him. Goge had a church relic preventing him from suffering any harm, but Dominica's sword cut right through it.

Salamanders are very kind and protective of normal HUMAN citizens, but they are still quite committed to offing aliens.

Adeptus Custodes is bodyguard of The Emperor. So no one can't order them beside The Emperor himself.

Custodians be like : for 100yrs I'm 100% ready to anything that I may encounter.
"Blinked 2 times in a second"
Custodians: I'm at 99% efficiency time to take a break

Don't think "good vs evil" think "order vs chaos".
And it's order or else 😁

30:40 to clarify- the adeptus mechanicus worship the Deus Mechanicus, the god in the machines, but believe the emperor is the living avatar of that omniscient force- The Omnissiah.

Your journey is only beginning!!! WELCOME BROTHERS

Interesting fact: The term "grimdark" was coined for WH40K. Not the other way around. It created the "grimdark" genre. Very few things can match the dark stuff that go on in it.

The salamanders are probably one of the "good" factions. They will purge heretics and xenos with holy fire then turn around and comfort the weak.

10:35 I love how much you’re trying to get the lore right and figure this out. As you know from watching. These are two one hour long videos and they barely scratch the surface or the lore for each one of these factions. There are over 350 books each with different characters and planets half the time. And almost every book loves to introduce something wild and new. And every one of them are tied together. Now and then the Red-con some stuff. Like the emperor having literal children of his own and a mother as well. But all and all you’d probably have to spend a solid month or two with 8-9 hour days going over short form lore to get everything.

One last bit of trivia.

The Sisters of Battle do not have a vow of chastity as part of their thing. However, they are often too busy to capitalize on that, doing what their name implies.

However, there has only ever been exactly one Sister of Battle, a high ranking one no less, tonfall to Chaos. It was Slaanesh, and it took a LONG time of being imprisoned in the Warp and much dedicated effort from one of Slaanesh's champions to break her faith in the Emperor. You will see in part 2 why managing to last that long in the face of Slaanesh's agents is impressive, given how horrifying it is to be captured by an agent of Slaanesh.

It's all a matter of perspective from the outside, as fans we get a unique view, being able to play almost any faction and able to know all or most of the information and lore.

18:20 trust me you’ll root for these characters once you get into the stories

It's not mentioned but the Sisters of Battle are equipped with nearly equivalent armor/weapons to Space Marines. The Church is rich. Sisters of Battle don't have the extra organs that let them directly connect to and interface with their Power Armor, or the sheer toughness/strength Space Marines have.

On the the table top they are as accurate (in terms of weapon skill and Ballistic skill) as marines and have basically the same level of leadership (morale). The basic weapon is the boltgun, though space marines are slowly getting a slightly more powerful version. It is pretty neat and hopefully Netflix doesn't F up the intentional gender inequality in 40k.

Space Marines are male only so that they are not a new species that can reproduce and replace humanity. Maybe the Emperor intended to kill them all after he was done using them to conquer the Galaxy. We don't know, but some of the Traitor Legions and presonel believed this to be true. Even the Loyalist Primarchs muse about if that was the Emperors plan, wipe out the space marines when he is done with them.

Robuotte Guilliman is the Primarch who put the most effort into finding a place for his Space Marines after conflict. This means administration, logistics, leading people in the political sphere etc... It is why the Ultramarines became the biggest legion by far(probably 2x+ the size of any other. They have the strongest logistical support. Enough that it has lasted 10,000 years in some form.

When conquering planets they would make sure a functioning meritocratic government of some form was left on the planet before moving on. Training a planetary defense force, setting up aggricultural, production and trade with other planets so that the new planets can function on their own. Since they are all now functioning planets they can support the future conquests of the Ultramarines leading to a snowball effect.

Ultramar, the realm of the Ultramarines is a pocket Empire in the Imperium that is perhaps a model for what the Emperor wanted for all of Humanity. It makes Guilliman an interesting character. He set up what could be the ideal goal of humanity but now in 40k has to try to run the Imperium of Man with tools and systems he despises.

The irony is that the current imperial “bible” was written by Logar who, when the emperor learnt he had had a world completely worship the emperor as a god he had the world burnt. Logar’s legion, the word bearers, are arguably responsible for all the traitor legions as they spread the word of the chaos gods. More ironically, worship in the emperor seems to work. The adeptas soratas seem to be able to perform miracles regularly because of their faith in the emperor. 😅

I recommend his space marine legions in a nutshell after part 2 of the faction video. Bricky gets in more detail about the 20 legions "bolter to head" I mean 18 not 20 "bolter is put away"
