I love how impressed he looks with himself throughout the movie. So cheeky!

People always thought that this movie is a Boxing Movie before they watch it.. but in reality it's actually a Love Story..

Stallone actually wrote this movie. He was nearly homeless, and had to sell his dog (the one IN the movie) just to eat. He was offered a fortune for the script, but turned it down because they wanted another actor to play Rocky.
Finally he got a small budget to film it and it won an Oscar for best picture.
He literally IS Rocky.

It's been almost 50 years and all day long people are still running up the steps of the Philadelphia Art Museum and jumping around at the top. People travel from around America and around the world to do it.

It was so much fun to see you slowly taking the movie seriously and by the end, you're almost speechless. Well done!
FYI, You're going to LOVE the sequel maybe even more

Sylvester still has Cuff and Link, the two turtles. They're over 50 years old now!

Rocky is my favorite movie of all time!
I'm so glad you liked it!
It almost always surprises everyone who watches it for the first time, how it's a character piece and a love story more than anything and boxing is just the back drop for a real story.
This movie won for best picture in 1976 and Stallone was nominated for best actor and won for best writing.
The dog Adrian gives Rocky, Butkus, was Stallone's actual dog. Before he made Rocky Stallone was so broke he couldn't afford to feed himself let alone his dog, so he had to end up selling him for $50. When he sold the script for Rocky, he went and bought Butkus back for $3000.
Rocky's turtles, Cuff and Link, are still alive today! They have been in Stallone's care this whole time.
There are 6 Rocky movies and 2 Creed movies. You should definitely watch Rocky II as it really is the second part of the story started in the first movie. The rest of the movies are great (except for Rocky V) and I recommend them if you wish to continue the series. Eye of the Tiger doesn't come in until the 3rd movie.
The fight was on January 1st, 1976. It confuses people when they say it's the most celebrated day in the country's history, because that should really be July 4th. However, 1976 was USA's Bicentennial year (Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4th 1776 in Philadelphia) so January 1st was the first day of the Bicentennial year.
The reason for oiling up the boxers is so there muscles won't be stiff going into the fight and there's little to no friction on the skin.
The stuff they got put up their nose is decongestant to clear the sinuses so they have the maximum intake of oxygen as they breathe during the fight.
Best Regards!

Just 11 minutes in and you've got me hooked. Love how pure your reaction is to this. One of my favorite films!

A couple things I forgot. You picked up that Mickey wasn't just crabby; he was disappointed in Rocky because of the collecting. You also picked up that his loan-shark boss viewed Rocky as a son of sorts. So many other reactors just wrote off the boss as a criminal and that he gave Rocky $500 as an investment. They failed to understand what he said to Rocky: "Here's $500 for training; you ain't never had any luck." You got all of that. And it was nice to watch you giggling as Rocky was talking to Adrian in the apartment. Talk about naturally awkward and real, and therein lies the appeal of the character. I can't wait for you to watch the next one.

Stallone wrote Rocky in 3 days. When he started showing it to different studios they all loved, but didn’t want Stallone to play the lead. Stallone was offered $300,000 for just the script but he stuck to his guns and refused until he finally accepted much less money but got to play Rocky.
During the time he was waiting he was in dire financial straits and he had to give away his own dog. As soon as he got the the money he tried to get the dog back and ended up buying the dog for $15,000. Stallone said he was worth every penny.
The turtles: Cuff and Link the turtles are still alive and still owned by Stallone. They finally got their theatrical comeback when they appeared in Creed and Creed 2

I’m happy the YouTube algorithms brought me to you today. Enjoyed your reaction. It’s always cool to see female reactors realize this is really a love story more than a boxing movie. Subbed.

Don't know if this had been mentioned yet, but the man leading the street corner acapella group at the beginning of the movie happens to be Sylvester Stallone's brother, Frank, who has been both an actor and musician.

Saw it in the theater. Because of "Godfather" and her "Connie" character, she was well known and viewed as glamorous. When she came out the bedroom with the glasses and the hat, the audience erupted. So many things could have gone wrong with this movie. How fortunate that the role fell to her.
