It's funny.  I had to work, cleaning a bakery that morning so I didn't see this coverage.  Someone was ribbing me that Spurs were bound to lose as Thorstvedt had even dropped his breakfast.  Thirty four years later I've now seen him do it.  The things you remember.

Football was better back then in my opinion. Not so much distance between the world the players and the fans operated in.

Strange event. Gascoigne was out of control. Venables and the referee Roger Milford seemed to think the whole thing was a big laugh. Princess DI was clearly suffering from the twin effects of bulimia and coercion. Gascoigne would not play again for almost a year and a half.
